Could a intermittent ac not working be a possibility for this failed part? I recently changed ac compressor and did a proper recover and charge on Freon. It was working great and randomly began blowing hot air, the next day it was back to blowing cold air, again intermittently going hot

Yes that could very easily be the case. If the blend door actuator isn’t closing or opening properly then you can have inconsistent temperature through the vents.

@diydevin what if you have the van with the camel hump inside and no glove box. Do I take off the whole hump because I don't have a glove box on my 2006 E350 econoline

My AC is blowing through defrost on my 2006 6.0. Besides a vacuum leak. Can this be a potential problem for that?
@diydevin8 ай бұрын
Yes, very likely! That is what this truck was doing before I changed it. Make sure to have your dial turned to defrost before changing it otherwise it will mess up your controls.

@diydevin Ok awesome. I'll order a OEM replacement and give it a shot. Thanks for replying

Hello, my truck AC is working nicely, however a few weeks ago the AC would intermittently come from the front vents and then return to the defrost vents and back and forth. A few days ago it has stayed stuck blowing the cold air through the top defrost vents. I also have an evap leak code, would both of these have to do with each other?

Was this after replacing the blend door actuator?
@luisangelmedia44592 ай бұрын
@@diydevin i didn’t replace this part because it was still working, the blend actuator will rotate as I switch from cold to hot on the knob on the dash.
@diydevin2 ай бұрын
It’s likely still the blend door actuator that needs to be replaced. I had an f150 last year that was doing the same thing your truck is doing now. The blend door actuator moved with the nob but was still not fully functional. Once I swapped the blend door actuator it fixed the issue.
@luisangelmedia44592 ай бұрын
@@diydevin i think it might be different problems. My blend door actuator still lets me get hot and cold air. I thought this was the actuator for the defrost and front vents, but that is another part that works through a vacuum line.
@jackgtx440Ай бұрын
@@luisangelmedia4459it’s probably a vacuum leak that’s your problem. My excursion is doing the same thing. Chasing vacuum lines now.

Hi! I’m seeing options for ordering an auto or manual actuator, which would I need to order?
@diydevin6 ай бұрын
It should be an actuator for a manual temperature control.

Is this also for the 1999 Ford Expedition??
@diydevin8 ай бұрын
It is not, unfortunately the actuator on the expedition of that year is under the center dash rather than behind the glove box.

@mikemoler349 well although I changed to AC, it keeps blowing hot air, and now it does not blow any air except defrost in front counsel

My truck will either be hot or cold. It was stuck on hot and I change the part out. When I went to change the part the piece that flips the door was set the same as the other. I had to take it apart and make it the same. Now it’s stuck on cold lol
@diydevinАй бұрын
Sometimes what you have to do is just plug in the actuator without putting it into the bracket yet. Once it’s just plugged in put your switch on whatever setting the air is coming out as (hot or cold) then once the actuator moves to its proper spot then you can insert it into the bracket. Every now and then it just needs that simple calibration.
@Купиведро7 ай бұрын
Is it needed to be calibrated?
@diydevin7 ай бұрын
Yes and no, figure out what way the air is blowing, for example if it’s blowing at just your feet put the dial to the feet setting and then install the blend door actuator.

Sorry to hear that! Glad you got it fixed! Most actuators do have screws but this one is super simple and easy.
