The new one is the Borg Warner KKK VNT 15. I have about 5k on the new turbo and all is well!! It's running great!

Ouch, don't know why turbos are so expensive still, can't imagine how many millions of that 1.9TDi engine VAG have made now, you'd think after so many of the turbos had been made that they would come down in price. Is the Borg Warner turbo an upgrade on the Garret unit? All I can say is it's a good job they are reliable, my last Passat was from 1999, and I got rid of it late last year (2015), it had done 250, 000 miles and was still very reliable, the engine wasn't the problem it was the rest of the car that was tired, just made sure I got the oil and filter changed when the trip computer told me to and it ran like a sweetie.
