Been learning cars for about 4 years, had this issue for 2 and the part in my box for about a year. Finally found this and have the brass balls to do it the right way. Wish me luck

Now's the time to get it done! Good luck man and let me know if you run into anything.

Thanks for the video, I haven't done the rear yet so now I know what I'm running into. I have done the opposite, starting at the front replacing the compressor and drier/accumulator, and yes the latter is a real challenge to take off. I sprayed many bursts of B'laster on the rusted threads and heated the big line in particular with a butane torch and it came right off. Can't wait to run a vacuum test and finally add Refrigerant!

Glad it could help. It's nice to be able to cool these ol' girls off.

My 99 Yukon was cooling good until about 5 minutes of driving. I noticed that the rear air was working fine and they use one compressor. I found the heater control valve bad . The air was cooled in the evaporator coil the it went through the heater core which was getting hot coolant constantly.

In hopes you may see this, what did you use to get those heater hose quick connects loose? How did you do it? Mine don’t want to come loose.
@treyhaberman Жыл бұрын
Soaked with WD40 and used compressed air while twisting them back and forth. I remember them being full of dirt and giving me hell. Good luck.

Well my situation is a bit different I have a 99 from California true survivor that I just took Moved north of Ohio so it’s Immaculate in terms of like corrosion/ rust etc . I am planning heavy suspension modifications flip kit/ Frame notch to lower the suv and need to do away with this rear heat and ac totally mostly cause for the Lines being in the way and I don’t need rear ac or heat it’s. Summer driver only . A few questions? Are all the lines on the entire length of the passenger side frame rail easy to remove ? If I extract the refrigerant and drain the heater core and lines are they all Held in with some type of clip setup along the frame ? I’m assuming I can buy or find and use “ Non” rear ac/heat lines up front from a donor and eliminate the lines that junction in up front and just run standard heater core lines right to the firewall ? As well as use a Non rear ac lines up front and do away with the portion that tees into the back ? Everything from a 95-99 “Non” 😂rear heat or ac suburban should swap up in the engine bay right ? Mostly my concern is how to tear out the whole plumbing routed from front to back . I can not route bend these lines into a bolt on frame notch , I just don’t see it happening and I really don’t need the rear ac or rear heat . I also assume the good clean lines and ac parts heater box parts etc…. are all worth a decent dollar on eBay or online ~ any info would be great

Yea I would imagine you could just get tahoes lines and swap them out to delete the rear. I would do it all under the hood. Most of mine were steel lines along the frame.

You should’ve included footage on how to remove the trim and housing pieces, there’s barely any videos about obs chevy/gm rear blower motors, none of them with in-depth footage on removing trim and housings to get access to them in the first place.

@MrOiram46 I actually recorded all this years before I wanted to start a youtube channel. This was more for me to put it back together. Lol
@MrOiram465 ай бұрын
@@treyhaberman Ah, well, it’s still pretty detailed and nicely put together when getting into the meat and potatoes, just that adding the removal of trim and housing pieces would complete the whole walkthrough.

@MrOiram46 yes sir I would film it differently now. The only reason I posted it was to help a guy out that was having trouble on a forum

I hope you still have time to wrap the expansion valve & retainer clip in heavy insulating tape before you put it back together?
@treyhaberman Жыл бұрын
No sir, this was about 2 years ago I just posted the video for a guy asking how to change the expansion valve. Shes been working fine, though, and I didn't remove anything from the original.
@neilritter84184 ай бұрын
How did you know the valve was bad my man? I’ve got a 1999 suburban, rear ac just started blowing hot all of a audden. Front ac is still ice cold. I’m grasping at straws hoping it’s the expansion valve. I don’t want to do this job again. Pretty extensive work as ya know. Any help or any more tips would be awesome 🫡🤟🏻

@neilritter8418 I didn't know it was bad. I bought a complete ac kit and it was part of it, so I filmed changing it out

those wheels look nice. how did you get them looking so good?
@treyhaberman Жыл бұрын
KZbin using aircraft remover to strip the clear from the wheels. That's what I did. Then painted the inserts black since the aircraft remover removed the grey. Here is a link, but I got mine from autozone, it's cheaper. Rust-Oleum 255449 Aircraft Remover, 18 Oz Aerosol, Liquid, 18-Ounce, Fl Oz a.co/d/53gMGTE

My damn 98 suburban the rear ac stopped getting cold front works fine im thinking this is my problem.

It's possible. It cold also be a blend door in the rear.

@DJJDSKREWED yea sounds like it could be the expansion valve then
