Most of the brake fluid pressure should go to front brakes, If you have to much fluid pressure to the rear brakes, that will cause them to lock up when applying brake pedal, The cause can be, rear ABS sensor, Master cylinder, etc...Try to unplug the rear ABS sensor, and go from there...good luck and thanks for watching.

Did you replace all 4 brake lines or just the one brake line on that side? My truck is locking up really bad and wanted more information

Did this fix it? I have the exact problem on my f150. Just replaced the shoes and cylinders too and the left rear locks up.

Did you get this resolved? I have a 1997 f350 power stroke dully that has problem with back wheels locking up it starts gradually it takes about a half hour before the abs and brake lite comes on then I can feel the brakes start to drag and continue to get worse if you park and shut it off you can hear the both brakes backing off. I had it at different shops we replaced the rubber hose at the rear this is know to delaminate on the inside not allowing the fluid to return. We replaced the rear sensor no difference. I just came back from testing it with the abs fuse pulled seems like it improved however after an hour of driving they began hang up but after about 10 seconds the rear brakes would release allowing the truck to roll on the flat without pushing on the gas. Considering replacing the front wheel sensors, abs module and or the master cylinder.

Damn looks just like mine before rusted out.. on my 99 the rear parking brakes and pads were replaced, I have rear disc with internal parking brake near center. New cables, since they were all seized. Had a random left or right brake appear to hang, thought since issue with both I swapped the rubber axle hose, which required a new vent bolt, issue remained, what I see if the parking brakes are applying, they are slipping free of cables and going full apply. Do not think they are dragging prior to somehow rock pads to affect that cam spreader, the spreaders were not changed, do you guys think replacing those would help? they both appeared to be functional and free when I installed the shoes and hardware inside parking brake section..

Well still random locking up driver rear disc. I pulled apart, everything looks good, bought some slide glide brake grease for back side of parking brakes, lathered it all up, cleaned n greased spreader. Can feel it bind up going slowly, jerking feeling, going to order a caliper in case bore is bad, but if not applied would not think pressure there.. rear antilock on 4x4 have issues? no codes present for it.. need to use car hauler and this is the truck that gets 50% better mpg than my chevy.. no replies in 4 months so not holding breath, thought someone might have issue n reply,, possibly due to your rears being drum.. 2x4..

Danny Collins did this end up fixing it? Mine are doing the same. I have the same truck. 99 f150 4.2 2wd. The rear brakes lock up when I apply the brakes.

Yes, on that truck the right front brake caliper hose was twisted and cause too much fluid pressure to the back brakes but that was because somebody install front brake pads and they hade the caliper twisted when putting it back on, back to your truck, the master cylinder can do the same thing when getting to much fluid pressure to the back brakes, also i am not sure on this truck but some of them have a rear brake fluid pressure sensor for the back brakes and you can ajust the fluid pressure on the lever of the sensor, some truck have this system for load control of the rear brake system, hope this helps. PS let me know what u find out and we can both learn, i have had several trucks to do this same thing. Never know what i am going to work on day from day. lol

Hello Larry, update on your truck, there are also other possibilities for rear brakes locking up #1 brake shoes them self-sticking, #2 Rear ABS sensor, "try disconnect the wire harness to rear brake sensor" and drive to see if that corrects the problem, #3 Brake master cylinder bad, letting too much fluid pressure to rear brakes. hope this helps, thanks for watching.

Larry, i do not think your truck has that rear brake lever sensor for fluid control.
