After four years your video is still helpful, the vacuum hose that connects to the bottom of the regulator was cut off and plugged on my 96 explorer, I had been trying to figure out where it connects to, thanks to your video now I know. Thanks, I hope it fixes that vacuum leak.

That's true, it's same as my 96 4.0 ohv. Most of the video's show that ohc engine

very good video. i have the same problem. couldn't find it at any part store. had to special order haha. i have the p0171 and p0174 codes now. found a broken vacuum line off the bottom of throttle body.

Thanks for this...gave me some idea's I hadn't thought of yet. Mine has overheated (cooking hot) several times over the years for different reasons (radiator leak with trans - expansion/freeze plugs - hoses - hot water valve). It has been hard starting and rough idle till warmed up some. Started with the radiator mixing with the transmission Codes P0171 & P0174 - lean banks...I torque the intake down and codes went away, but still very hard start, have to start it several times now to get it going...need to chain your uploads so they are easy to find...thanks again

Hey guys just wanted to let you know that the regulator he refers to is a fuel pressure damper not regulator its available at autozone for the 4.0 ohv motor for like 60 dollars

the hose that connects to the fuel pressure damper is hard emission tubing in case your breaks and you need a new one

Thanks for the video, did you have to take that flume off to get to the regulator? And could that be my problem? My 96 4.0 will run good till sometimes on the hiway it shuts down, then I get off the road and start it back up, then it may run fine for 8 or 10 or even 60 miles till it does it again. Just wondering where to check, kinda makes me think there's something floating around in the tank, like maybe that sock or filter has came off, and gets stuck at the pump then when it shuts off, maybe fall's off 🤔

Before anyone changes there ignition coil for misfires, take it off and clean the bottom of it and the frame it sits on. My coil has a grounding plate on the bottom of it, it was rusty and cause 3 cylinders to misfire. A zero dollar fix for me, i suggest cleaning it once a year because its a huge difference. Mine is easy to get to on a 2004 explorer.

I had the same problem with the vent vapor valve, none of the auto parts stores had one, or didn't know it had one, had to special order it.

hey ive got a 97 with the same engine they call an x enginewell ive replaced the iac and cleand the map sencr and itstill doesn't run good and the iac hums and I got a code p0171 and p0174 its running lean on both banks help could be my fuel regulater

it’s a fuel pressure damper not regulator, regulator is in the fuel tank.

Summit Racing has it listed as OEM replacement Part# PR61. However, it only shows application to 1998 Explorer & Ranger and older vehicles not the 1999 Explorer. Don't know why.

that valve is on the pushrod/ohv 4.0 and not the sohv or dohv engines. Great video about another secret the dealer sticks to you.

I have the the same to lean codes on my 01 Ford Explorer Sport, 4.0, 6cly. I now have had a few vacuum hoses that needed to be replaced, replace the pcv valve, replaced the fuel filter & I just spent quite a bit of money to replace my upper & lower intake gaskets. Still have the same 2 codes. I ordered a new MAF that will be arriving today. If that does not fix it, what else should I do or have done? I'm losing my mind here.

I've got a 2000 ranger 2.5l with a high rpms fault from take-off, mainly when shifting from gear to gear. High rpms in between shifts ( clutch pressed ). Have fault codes p0171 lean bank 1, p0122, and p01125 throttle position sensor. I replaced the fuel filter, PCV, idle air control valve (iacv) and throttle position sensor. I did not check the hose to the PCV though. Cleaned MAF sensor also. Reset check engine light but problem still continues. The check engine light still comes back too. Wtf is the problem?

I have a 94 explorer,found the fuel pressure regulator at autozone for a whopping $108...went to Rock Auto.com & bought for $58.I get most of my parts from them,much cheaper than the local guys that mark up the prices way to much.

wrong, the explorer has the ohv up to year 2002 in various models, i have a 99 ford explorer, with a throttle body spacer, high performance fuel injectors, and i have raced a dodge durango before on a quarter mile stretch and beat it by 1.22 seconds. FORD= First on race day

the fuel pressure regulator I believe F87E-9f775-Cb does NOT exist anymore. It is obsolete and nobody produces it or has it in stock anymore. For discontinued it a few years back and there are no aftermarket replacements...anywhere. You are out of luck like me
