1999 Grand Cherokee Fuel Filter Replacement

A quick howto video detailing the steps it takes to change the fuel filter in a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
This video applies to any Grand Cherokee from 1999 to 2004 with any engine.

There is a small schrader valve on the drivers side fuel rail that needs to be bleed of pressure before you remove any fuel lines.

correct, however, in this particular case the filter was actually cracked and the line had no pressure at all

Mine was leaking at the filter as well but was a broken clip. Danged plastic junk! I may eventually try and eliminate all the plastic fuel line crap!

Do you need to bleed air out?

For this vehicle I did not you can just turn the key on and off 3 or 4 times And it will refill the line with fuel

I cant find my inline fuel filter on a1999 Cherokee limited 4.0 6 cyl. Is it in the tank? Wheij at a redlight and you give it gas...it stalls and goes dead. Problem started with at first crank in morning it cranks right up. Drive to store pick up a few things and when trying to crank it wont crank unless you put accelerator on the floor and you get a rough start then smooths out but not on taking off from.a stop it dies unless you barely press the accelerator pedal. Checked the fuel pressure with a guage and with just the switch to on position it reads 48 psi. Give it gas and guage reading goes up a bit. It doesnt drop until you cut engine off which is to be expected. What is causing the stall/quits running... on takeoff and hard to crank on second crank after sitting off for 30 minutes or so? Anyone got a idea?
