@@user-oz9sb3kf4u the civic si is so much faster than the accord because is a different type of VTEC (dohc) and it has a different weight! Anyway my speech was to say that the vtec is a very good engine

the 1.6 never had vtec, but still reved up to 7k at the limiter. Very fun car indeed. I have to sell mine unfortunally due to having a new car from work, so I barely drive it anymore.

@@MetalBlindSolver I've been thinking switching from a '97 Civic (the chairs are way too thin) to an Accord. Can you travel longer distances in an Accord without feeling fatigued or having leg and back cramps? And is the suspension soft enough for your bones to not get shattered at every pothole?
@MetalBlindSolver
@MetalBlindSolver Жыл бұрын
@@Rutch I took my Accord on four 1000+km road trips as of now, including a 4500km road trip across Europe. On the last day returning, I drove from Prague to Dijon in a single day, 13 hours of driving and no fatigue at all. Longest drive I did in one day was a 15hr trip from Madrid (including breaks), again no physical fatigue. The only con about owning this car is the difficulty of finding certain parts, which are no longer produced by Honda. But y'know, those things never go wrong...
@MetalBlindSolver
@MetalBlindSolver Жыл бұрын
@@Rutch the suspension isn't as soft as in a full-size V8 limo though, but honestly it's okay. I'd say it's the same kind of feeling as in a 3-series

I have that 1.8 F series in my 99 accord. 230,000 miles or roughly 360,000km on the clock. Never once gave trouble. Heck the engine was never even opened because nothing ever had to be fixed in there. It is due a valve adjustment however. As for chassis behaviour in these its on a different level. Made during hondas golden era as i call it. Mid 80s to about 04 was the pinnacle of honda in pretty much all aspects. Glad that a few folks still have interest in these workhorses

5:05 Why shifting gears up around 4-5000 RPM though - isn't 2000-2500 what you'd aim for? Or is it for the purpose of demonstrating something?

Higher RPM = more power. Lower RPM = better gas mileage. Better to have more power when you are trying to speed up to merge onto the highway.

I have one with 230,000 miles on the clock. Dam thing sits into corners and hugs the road better than my 2014 civic. A very under-appreciated car. At one point these were probably the best cars on the road in terms of reliability and comfort. Btw, speaking from experience. My dad owned it since new before i got it and it rarely needed repairs. I remember at least 20 of its 25 years in existance and can say without doubt its the best car that has ever been in our family. So far it has outlived a santa fe, sportage, duster, laguna, megane, v70, xc60, golf, jetta, passat, micra, corsa, ix35, touran and an a4. These were the last of the cars from hondas golden era. Mid 80s to early 00's was hondas heyday. And if ya got one that a ricer didnt touch, the dam thing would last forever. Brilliant cars
