Just used this to install an alternator. Thank you for the time and effort it took to create the tutorial. Extremely useful.

This video is PRICELESS. Your instructional videos are flawless. I am doing this R&R today and you has calmed my fears. THANK YOU!!!

Had to change mine today. I actually pulled the right side of the splash guard loose to access the lower bolt for the manifold support bracket and the bottom alternator bolt. It's much easier that way. Thanks for the video. And here is a helpful tip for others... make SURE the piece of plastic where the 45 degree turn wire goes is exactly the same on the new alternator as the old one (core). I tried to get that damn wire to rotate in place for 20 minutes before I realized that the piece of plastic was different. I had to take the new alternator back to the parts store and change out that piece of plastic with the one that was on the old alternator. All you have to do is remove the nut and the plastic piece comes off. Hopefully this will help someone so they don't have to waste a bunch of time like I did.

Could not have completed the task without your video. My pivot bolt fought me to the bitter end. It needed a lot of muscle to break it loose and there is just not much space to get leverage. Thanks again - great video.

Me too. Oil change kinda guy. However, cannot afford all the check engine lights. Had to figure out some of it on my own.

Very cool for you to make this video. I tried to do it today, and thought that damn intake manifold support was an engine mount, so thought I couldn't do it, and was a defeated man. Learning now what it really is, I am ready to take it down! lol

Thank you. I removed the alternator out of my 99 NB today. Your video helped.

Jack the car up, remove belly cover. Takes 5 minutes, makes the job so much easier. Two top bolts on intake support and pivot bolts from the top, everything else from below.

Fantastic on hands video. Very professional. My 2000 Mazda Miata alternator is only putting out 12.2 volts and I thought that was fine but apparently it is too low. Will go to AutoZone and get a rebuilt one and try and install it myself. It will probably take me twice as long as the video shows.

We literally would still be working if not for your video. Well done. That pivot bolt is a m-f-er.

Thanks Bro, I was stuck w/o this. then watched and finished. Darn extra bracket...

Hard to believe they didn't figure out to install the pivot bolt from the front sooner. There is no excuse for this kind of bad design. They had to take the time to design a removable bracket. Why not reverse the machining of the pivot bold?

Excellent, nicely demonstrated it has really helped me change mine, better than the pics in a Haynes manual

Thanks for posting. I should have re-watched just before doing it today at lunch (due to removing the electrical connections (the cannon plug thing) But I got it after I re-watched. I don't have my new alternator yet, but I've just cut my project time in half by removing the old one.

nice video. but when i went to change the alternator in my 1990 miata, there were many changes from the 1999 video. but many good tips none the less.

What was different, mine is a 90 as well
@KTWA5 жыл бұрын
Thats because 89-97 are different models / some have 1.6L engines, where the engine bay is set up quite differently. 99-2005 was the 2nd model of the miata

I say I am not a mechanic, because I am not. It is important for the viewer to evaluate for themselves whether the solution I present is for them. This technique worked for me and it might work for others. If they want a mechanic to do the work, then go to a mechanic and pay the price.
