Figured out the trip meter issue. I accidentally left soldering between pins 8 and 9. This must have caused a communication block from switching to the trip meter. I cleaned up the soldering and all good now.

Update 1,000 miles later. still no issue
@wesleydawson31685 ай бұрын
Hey not sure if you’re still active on your account but I’m having an issue that’s occurred randomly on my 04’ gt similar to yours. The other day I decided to do a pull with traction control not disabled and it did fuel cut pretty bad like these cars do. Didn’t think much of it until I noticed my temp gauge and tach were not working along with the odometer is all dashes along the gauge the issue is intermittent as the gauges and odometer will turn back on going down the road and shut back off. Car runs fine. I’m thinking a busted soldier connection in the instrument panel. Some suggested the relay for the pcm within the ccrm could have a bad connection as they are all soldered connections as well. Any advice or info on my issue would be greatly appreciated. I’d like to think it’s a simple fix but all the misinformation on the internet is overwhelming.

@@wesleydawson3168 let me ask my friend about that. It seems like a little more than what I was dealing with and don’t want to just give a guess etc

This did work for me but unsure whether it was the solder issue or the where the flat cable mates with the plug. That looked pretty crusty and the pinch type wire pins there have a reputation of flaky connections.

@@amaurygutierrez3216 that is horrible I am sorry to hear I wonder if it did what the one comment below said that claimed this job required a scanner tool or something if that nature to reset everything

That worked! Thanks, man! Bur, my trip meter is now not working. I push and hold the knob down, but I still see the odometer reading. Any ideas? Maybe I soldered over something?

This is one of the most dangerous videos you'll ever watch if you remove your cluster to repair it you might set off the pats system if you don't have a $600 scan tool or more or you don't want to go to Ford and give them any words between $300 to $1,000 stay away from this video and do not attempt this repair. System in your car I will say it again you are going to be in a world of hurt trying to figure out what your problem is. This guy got really lucky and I'm glad for him. But the p a t s system means passive anti-theft system if you set it off your computer will have to be reprogrammed or you'll have to send it to a specialist to have it disabled your car will not start if you set it off my pats system now my 2000 Ford Mustang does not start it's not working anytime you're working on a Ford remember you might have to do with that p a t s system then your fu**Ed if your a diyer without a very expensive reprogramming tool and software that is proprietary

@@sherriezell7860 I am sorry to hear about that happening to you. Good warning to know, appreciate the info for others who may be thinking about attempting. Glad that I haven’t had anyone until now come back to the video with issues until now. I wonder why this did not set it off? I got this from a mustang forum and no one noted that risk. Wondering how they did not know Does disconnecting the battery not eliminate that risk? I figured that would only happen if I was installing a cluster from a different car. Crazy stuff

@@Ian-Threaded 1st I'm glad it worked for you. Very glad. I purchased the car off marketplace. I think someone replaced the odometer with one that had 157k miles. Why I'll never know. I can't figure it out. I wish I had never touched it because car won't start just turn over. No info from obd to PCM either. All options are very pricy for me. I have no friends that have the higher end reprogrammed tool. I was NOT trying to be a A**hole. I just don't want this to happen to Anyone else. All I did was the repair thank you, but the crank no start. I've been working researching for a month. Only option is Ford or high priced reprogramming tool. I've decided to pull the ecm and send it to a company to have the pats system disabled. $149.00. + Shipping. If anyone reads this and has another idea please help. I'll post update I know this problem is common because of all the stangheads like me just trying to keep there car in goog shape. Simple diy guys and gals. Thank you PS after I did the repair and I got nothing on my cluster except for a seatbelt light I thought maybe I did it wrong or messed something up. I sent it to have a completely repaired got it back from the repair shop and they said someone had tampered with it before which was me last a long time. I'm sure my work was solid, but just to rule it out I did send it to have it repaired and when I got it back plugged it in same thing. That was $120 down the tubes. I'll keep a post and let you know what and how I resolved it.
