Such great racing! These were the glory days of NASCAR. A crowd of 175,000+ (a sellout), 3 manufacturers with 3 completely DIFFERENT bodies, multiple engine programs, Earnhardt, Wallace, Rudd, Irvan, etc. the true good 'ole days.

Brian Murray no it isn’t. Anymore the side by side is manufactured by “grip enhancement” and doesn’t last long. The crap racing we have today is 50% the cars and 50% lazy, spoiled drivers
@nattychamps90987 жыл бұрын
MrPizzaboy88 I disagree we still have great racing. I hate people who say racing isn't as good as it use to be. Or football isn't as great as it use to be. It's still the same. It's just people put on there Nostalgia goggles and refuse to take them off. They still have great racing. Especially at Daytona and Talledega. Sunday's Martinsville race was great as well.

What a great race! Classic Ken Squire from the start. Dale Jrs first race. Tony Stewart leading laps after Indy. GREAT RACING the whole time and the fans reaction to winning a million was priceless. This is one ill recommend to someone wanting to watch a old race.
@platinum204 ай бұрын
Tony Stewart had inner strength that few others did. Starting getting sick before the sun went down but had the sheer determination to not only finish, but contend for the win. He showed it again at Watkins Glen 5 years later. No one these days could come close to that willpower.

This had to be one of the last events Squier would do Play-By-Play for. In 2000 CBS was fully using Mike Joy, and TBS put Bestwick in the booth.

I can't believe they never showed how Jeff passed Bobby for the lead after their final pit stops. I was there at the exit of turn 2. When Bobby came out of his pits, Jeff was in the middle of 3 and 4. When Bobby was just getting up to speed in the back stretch, jeff caught him and passed him and some lapped cars on the apron, shooting up sparks. I was 12 years old at this race and that is THE image that remains in my head when I think of NASCAR.

Went to this race in 98, had garage passes from bobby allison team. Getting to mix with everyone on the infield and starting line was a real great experience. I lived a couple miles from the track. You either went to the race, or got out of town race weekend. If you didn't, you were stuck in your house, traffic was crazy.

What a race! Jeff Burton did well, but there are a lotta guys who coulda won. Gordon ran well early, Park could have won,Labonte,Stewart,Martin. THIS IS WHAT THE 600 SHOULD BE. WHY HAVE PEOPLE FORGOTEEN THIS RACE?

@swvastories34989 жыл бұрын
+Joseph Bevacqua Well Steve Park was flying at the beginning of the race and then he ended up getting wrecked right in front of us. He was super fast early. Then watching Dale Jr in his first WINSTON CUP start and finally a nail biter of a finish at the end between labonte and burton. Plus I ran into former WWF wrestler Sgt Slaughter before the race and talked to he and his wife for a few minutes and had him sign my hat before he left. They were very nice!

Joseph Bevacqua I can't remember without going back and watching the video. I think this was the race Tony had to be pulled out of his car because he was so worn out from driving at Indy earlier in the day. Next year he was in much better shape and finished both races in a lot better condition.

+wolfman21 and which races were better? These 90's races are amazing!! NASCAR should realise that the aero of the current cars are making for terrible racing.
