Nice presentation. I had one of these vehicles between September 1997 to sometime mid 2010. Loved it. One major minus in my opinion was the lack of a rear view camera. I mean, anything hidden behind the central rear headrest or the bottom of the rear window were invisible. This turned out to be a real pain in the arse for me. A very low wall at a holiday destination cost me a new rear tail gate and repairs to the rear of the car including the bumper below it. My speed at the time of the incident was negligible. Parking in ASDA with their irritatingly low pillars (at the time) was always tricky. Those bastards were perfectly placed to be precisely obscured by the rear centre passenger head restraint when reversing into a parking place no matter what angle I approached from. All down to mathematics I guess. No kidding though, the only similar experience I have is the moon in front of the sun during a solar eclipse. A wonderful car to drive. I could drive all the way to Cornwall without dropping out of fifth gear. Well almost. When the time came to replace the Primera, our choice was a Toyota Auris (a smaller 1600cc engine with six gears rather than the customary five gears) that disliked (albeit only slightly) the long steep hills along the A30 in Cornwall. The Primera didn’t notice them. With the Auris I had to change down one gear to fifth (thinking about it now though - to the same gear ratio as the Primera). This was around the Jamaica Inn area if I recall correctly. I finally had to replaced the Primera when the costs of maintenance started getting higher. In 2010 I got shafted by the Nissan Dealer I think (Wessex, Bristol). I had a dashborad light come on. My Dealer told me I needed a new Cat Converter - but I was lucky because the exhaust system was fine. £650.00. But was I lucky? Like hell! Nine months later the same light came on. This time it was the rest of the exhaust system. £1200 - including a new cat!. So I cut my losses. I sold the Nissan to Toyota for my first Auris (with rear view camera amonst other things). I have never looked back until now I think about it watching this. I went on to replace the manual six gear speed Auris (also a nice car by the way) with the first of a series of hybrid engine Auris'. Fantastic vehicles. I know now that I will never go back to a manual shift. It’s amazing how much tension one ceases to have to cope with when no longer having to constantly find the balance point of a clutch mechanism. Wessex ended up losing me as a customer and doing me a favour in the process. God bless ‘em. Might even have helped the planet too.

My Primera is great.

The U.S. G20 for this restyle was nicer outside and more upscale looking but this Primera had a more modern dash. The CVT is better for mpg but it's a 4 speed auto in the U.S. Infiniti version. Mine is now a 15 year old G20 and rides like new still!

One day I'll find time to rebuild the engine (timing chain snapped). I have all the neccessary parts for the rebuild, but it's in a garage 50m from my house with no electric power. The car is a 2000 Primera P11-144 Sport Plus. 2.0l, twin cam, 16v, 140bhp, fully independent suspension front & rear. Reviewer left those details out, along with the suspension being based on the BTTC winning cars from the 90's.

Would you please stop comparing every single car with BMW 3 series..,its getting frustratingly booooring!!!! Thank you.
@MTMabowels4 жыл бұрын
Never heard of the BMW 3 Series so might as well be comparing with a Panzer Tank. Not really bothered otherwise. My Primera was a bit on the heavy side though. It got through brake discs (all round - twice) and pads like crazy. So maybe the Panzer analogy its accurate.
