Hello fellow Rialta lovers. Im not criticizing the extraordinary effort you went through but I thought I would tell you/others what went wrong. First and foremost, you MUST scuff the surface with sand paper before painting anything. But these cabinets have a clear coat finish as well and then sanding will take care of that too As far as primer, you really need a self etching primer that will bond to the plastic rather than just sit on top. The spray paint that was used is good bit its gotta be applied correctly. Also, the spray tip is craps so good technique will avoid blotching. Start with a very light tack coat, wait 10-15 minutes and apply the first cover coat. Repeat until full coverage is achieved. You will probably end up with a little dust in the finish so for the final step, and to make cleaning easier and significantly increase durability, scuff with 400 grit and spray two coats of clear, made in the same line as the paint. My two cents based on years split between boats and Betty the Rialta. Hope this helps whoever reads this 🥰

Nice work! There is alot of plastic to paint in these! Did you remove it all in order to spray paint or did you find a work around to be able to brush paint inside without removing all plastic?

Thank you! That means a lot. Yes! The paint is holding up so far. Obviously it’s painted plastic, so avoid scratching it - but it still looks great and handles normal wear nicely. Thanks again for watching 😎

I have the same valances we have the same model Rialta that we are beginning to redo in two weeks. Going to attempt to cover them without taking them off did you think about that before or it was just better to take them off?

It’s such a tight fit, I felt like it would be a cleaner finish. Have fun on the remodel - they are such cool little rvs!
