1999 Subaru Forester overview and 6 months of troubleshooting later

Your video is very entertaining and I feel your frustration!!! I have a '99 Forester, too, and I love it... We bought it from the original owner about 3-4 yrs. ago. Earlier this year the 267K miles engine went, so we put a lower mileage (160K) rebuilt engine in it. No sooner got it back on the road and it started having overheating issues. After about a 2-3 month diagnosis, we replaced the thermostat with a genuine Subaru thermostat. Ran fabulous for ONE DAY and the transmission blew!!! At least, we believe it blew. Had it towed back to our driveway last night. I'm NOT getting rid of her, though. We'll replace or rebuild the trans and put her back on the road. I put lettering on the back window says "My Last Car" so I'll drive it till it's no longer repairable! Or at my age (65), I'll drive it till I can't drive anymore. 😅😅😅
