The lisle funnel is designed to sit on the radiator as the engine heats up, thermostat opens, and burps air out through the funnel. In addition to this process shown, leave the funnel attached with coolant and heat up the system with the heater on until the electric cooling fan kicks on for a bit
@jjrock5

Exactly what I was thinking. Those funnels are specifically made to purge air out of the coolant system.

In addition to that you should periodically squeeze the upper radiator hose to bleed the system.

Little tip on the funnel.... before you insert the stopper, give the hose a squeeze. Insert it as you squeeze. it'll reduce your mess when removing the funnel and adaptors....

What brand of coolant funnel are you using? I’ve tried two different kinds and the screw cap doesn’t thread on using either of them.

How do you drain out the coolant from the engine block? Is there a spigot there like on other vehicles? Also, if so, where is it located? Thanks.
@1AAuto
@1AAuto 6 жыл бұрын
+rob h Thanks for watching! If a complete engine block drain is required then you will have to remove the left and right block coolant drain plugs. The should be located next to cylinders 1 and 2. 1aauto.com

I have a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, and wanted to know whether or not the 2009-2017 Chevrolet Traverse model directions would work best since my car is a 2014? The last time I did a coolant flush was for a 2007 Ford Focus, so I'm trying to remember everything. :-p

I think running the engine at 2500 RPM for 3 minutes will bleed system - any air in the system will rise to top of radiator. Then after engine cools, just top off with more coolant at radiator.

@Thomas Poafpybitty no there is a valve on the coolant line going to the heater core. When you turn the heat on your hvac it is opening this valve. Love your confidence though !

Are the cooling fans supposed to kick on at a low speed a soonest you start the car? My 2011 traverse will do this, it doesn’t matter how cold is outside, every time since own the fans kick on when I start the car and they will stay running at low speed constantly. Anyone?

I can drain over a gallon just by inserting a clear piece of tubing into the radiator fill hole and siphon it out into a bucket. Its a heck of a lot easier and cleaner than this method in the video.. Wonder how much fluid he actually drained out?
