Your one of the best mechanics I’ve seen on KZbin. Man or woman. Very thorough and well spoken. You know your stuff. I wish you worked in my area. You would be my mechanic! Your a credit to the auto service industry. Keep it up girl!

I'm not an ASE mechanic but I've been doing brakes for myself and others for over 50 years. Regarding the caliper slide pin with the rubber sleeve, that pin is normally the trailing pin. I say "normally" but I have never seen a caliper slide pin with a sleeve that is not the trailing pin. It doesn't matter if front or back or left or right side of the car. If the caliper is aft of the axle, the trailing pin is on top, as in this video. To explain leading vs trailing, if you were to put a mark on the rotor and rotate it as if driving forward, the leading pin is where the mark first enters the caliper. The rubber sleeve is on the trailing pin.

Mount the caliper on the bottom pin then mount the bracket. Flop the caliper open, hinged on the bottom pin to install the pads.

The first time I've seen someone do a brake job the way I was taught in school. Most people just swap parts and then end up having reduced performance or early wear. I've lost count of how many times I've had people come to for help complaining that their brakes are either noisy or soft or both, after getting a brake job.

What a great way to waste time and charge the customer more money lol no damn need to the opening of the bleeder screw 😂 open the reservoir cap and use the brake caliper tool to push the piston back in. Remember fellas DO NOT OPEN THE BLEEDER SCREW! Unless you wanna have to start a brake bleed job to be 100% sure of no air in the system. She gets an A for effort, but this hard to watch cause of how it began with that bleeder screw.

Thanks for this tutorial video. You make it look so easy! Keep up the good work. Quick question: Do you know think any Nissan dealer can do this within 2 hours of labor? I'm thinking about buying those Nakamoto break pads and rotors then asking my dealer to install them. Asking me 1K for the brakes/rotors and labor is just insane!
@1AAuto
@1AAuto 5 жыл бұрын
+htnotc Typically they would charge 2-3 hours so whatever their hourly rate is would be what you pay. Check to see if they have any coupons through that dealer some places offer that. Call first and make sure to get a confirmed number and the person's name. Hope this helps!

I noticed that you opened the brake bleeder valve. I this required or not necessary? And if is necessary, why?

I have never opened the bleeder valve when doing anything with the brakes . Once you open that value going to have to bleed all the brakes

15:00 every video i have seen they put paste on the surface of the clips (or the pad area that makes contact with the clip) . I am very confused about this and am about to change my brakes. Also when loosening the bleeder screw did air seep into the system?
@troquiandonw6633
@troquiandonw6633 3 жыл бұрын
I always believed that you should not loosen the bleeder screw unless someone was putting pressure on the brake pedal, or it would have air going in to the lines...

My only other question is, it’s not easier to take the cap of the master cylinder instead of opening the bleeder screw? Just curious.

Thanks for the great video, I'm about to do this to my car. Do you recommend coating the back of the brake pads with CRC Disc Brake Quiet? I used this on my F-150 and seemed to eliminate the squeaks.
@1AAuto

+JJ We would suggest adding the brake quiet as it will eliminate the noise coming from them. Thank you for your feedback!

Hi, i have a stuck rotor. Does this also work for 17 model or does the 17 have a hidden screw to hold the rotor?

You say not to add grease/silicone paste to the top of the retainer clips for the rear brakes? Is that only the recommendations on rear brakes? Many people add greaseor paste to the front pads.
@1AAuto

+michaelssong87 You can add brake quiet to the pads to eliminate noise.

michaelssong87 I use permatex copper antiseize on the slide guides, or your brake pads will stick.

Silicone paste is the best and recommend,it won’t burn at high temp and won’t eat rubber boots like grease.
