Great video. Just finished replacing my belt, tensioner and idler pulley on my 02 Focus Dohc and all went reasonably well. The Dohc engine does not have the space to get into the bolts as easily. Instead of replacing just the pulley on the tensioner, decided to replace entire assembly. When I replaced the old belt, just cut it with a utility knife....saves a few minutes. Thanks for taking the time to explain the process.

Most of the tensioners have a square hole wher you insert a wrench to safely push it toward the front of the car without the risk of the tool sliding from the screw causing an accident but 99% of the videos no one uses it, they all use a simple wrench to pull it

landed up taking it to a garage as it was making so much noise and no time to do it. OMG they bought the whole tensioner costing me a fortune. So anyone needs the tensioner. I have a new one less the pulley wheel. I can get that for £10 The tensioner is on my e bay . However, replacing the belt is a good idea.

I am installing a new tensioner it has a plastic pin holding back the tensioner how do you get that pin out ????

How tight should the belt be when you put it back on? And depending on how tight it is does it affect the power steering of the vehicle?

Could you not remove just the pulley, instead of removing the whole tensioner?

Might as well change out the idler pully and the belt if you're going to go this far. They're not that expensive and might save you another trip under the hood should the idler pully or belt go south. Also, if you are going to replace the belt, be sure to have a routing diagram of how the belt goes back on AND make sure you buy the right belt...there are two different sized belts according to AutoZone. The diameters are different as well as the length. If you replace the belt, just cut the old one off and save a few minutes and some possible aggravation. Great video!
