Great video but you actually don’t have to take full bumper off. Loosen tabs in wheel well and on top of bumper near radiation and the bumper will come down far enough to reach all of the screws on the head lights. Much easier!!!

The hardest thing are the clips. Other than that, it's much simpler than it appears. Only need to remove screws from the side that you're working on. Thanks.

My Mazda manual wasn't right at all. This video kept me from taking it to the dealer and paying probably $70-100 - all b/c the manual didn't mention the squeeze sides on the wiring. So thank you very much 1A.

I did not have to loosen the bolts on the underside of the bumper cover. Once the top cover bolts and wheel well fender retaining clips were removed aI could bend the cover forward so as to access the bolts to remove the lenses. Removing the bottom rusted bolts would have been near impossible. Also, the retaining clip that you forced off ( the clip at the sides of the bumper cover) are nearly impossible to get back on. I suggest getting a large push type clip ( no phillips head) from the auto parts store and using that. I couldnt even get one of those to work but the good news is that its stable as long as your other clips are in.

RonBo how long did this job take you do complete my son has a 2002 escape and i am thinking about ordering these from 1A from what your saying is you just removed the upper bumper cover bolts and the Phillip clip combo in both left and right wheel wells? Enough wiggle room to remove lamp fixture? Did you presoak bolts with wd40?did everything plug right in? Thanks!!

Shame on Ford for making it so you are forced to remove the bumper cover just to replace a headlight lens! I just had to do this myself and was surprised to find the bottom bolts holding the light are impossible to access without removing the bumper cover. Usually, the bolts holding the bumper cover aren't easy to get out because they rust or sieze and there is a risk if breaking the bumper cover while taking them out. It took me over an hour to take the bumper cover off my Ford Escape, just to be able to access two bolts under the lens!

Dude, you made this look easy. I'm gonna try to change the driver's side head light bulb in my 2003 Escape. I've got a disability, C.P. that may limit the range my hands can move a bit, but I'll let you know how it went give me a few days and I'll let you know.

Thanks. Very helpful. I didn't realize the whole bumper needed to be removed. I had the left assembly (damaged by road hazard) replaced by my mechanic. If I had known how much labor was involved with the bumper, I would have had him replace both so they would match.

@@1AAuto OMG mike my son has a 2002 escape with cloudy headlights one has moisture in it this looks like a big job but easy on a lift how long did this take to complete ? Update - everything went well, but I agree with another comment about not having to remove the entire bumper. The only lower bolts I removed were the ones on the wheelwell corners ( if that makes any sense ) . But having someone hold the bumper out so that I could access the 2 lower headlight attachment bolts helped. The hidden clips for the bumper were sacrificed & I may or may not address that later. But anyway, thank you,!

Question. My 2001 Escape is just like this. No fog lights. But if you go to 7:30 , I noticed a blue plug hanging close to the horn. Is that where the fog lights would go? I ask because I have a square block in my dash that, when pulled out, has wires and a connector attached and I assume it would be for fog lights. Anywho, does 1A Auto have the fog lights, if this is the case?

Does the 01-07 models have the same size headlights? Because I was thinking about getting LED headlights for my 01 but the description of the lights say 05-07 models only. But the picture of the lights are on a 01-04 model. So I'm pretty confused

I have to change my driver's side headlight in my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid and wasn't sure it was going to be easy. Watching this it looks pretty simple. Since I'm female I have smaller hands, so hopefully I can change both bulbs quickly.

I bought a 2007 Escape last week, took it back to the dealer today to have the high beam indicator light replaced, simple right? lol The entire dash assm. has to be replaced at a cost of $450. I have to think the 3 stooges are designing these vehicles or the dealers are doing this to sit on their customers. So even though it's not that big a deal with the high beam, when a dash light goes out be prepared to be screwed. It's stupid to have to replace the entire dash for one light.
