Unbelievable how hard Toyota made what should be such a simple task. Off to the hardware store to get long nose pliers. Regular needle nose won’t work

Thanks buddy, you made me look like I know what I'm doing when my co worker asked for help i told them i had to pee first (watched the video quick ) and came out of the bathroom with the knowledge i needed to change the bulbs and removing the sub 🤣 they just thought I was good with cars ...nope , it was all you . Great Video - I was a bit wary of taking out the sub to get to the taillight access cover,, but this video showed how easy it is. Glad I didn't try to take the outside bezel off.

also helps to have a 90lb double-jointed Filipino friend to help reach the bulb sockets. failing that, take your time doing this - i had 5 of 6 rear bulbs done (i was doing an upgrade to LEDs), and my sausage fingers fumbled around trying to get the final socket in and the bulb fell into the lens housing. because of course. what should have been an hour job turned into a day long adventure involving pulling out the cargo floor, that rear floor panel with the tie-down loops, prying open the full side panels breaking some clips along the way, and buying a deep socket set, in order to fully access and remove the taillight assembly, after which you flail it around like it's a kids 3D puzzle game, and pray the loose bulb can get into a position where it can be extracted from the impossibly small opening.

I think those allen bolts you took out are just for looks. That panel looks to be only held on by clips.

What was the purpose of removing the sub woofer and panel for that job??? You did everything through the small panel.

Never mind, my mistake. I don’t have the sub on mine so the small panel on mine is not covered by the sub .

Damn I was hoping that the little hatch is how you take the light out. - Dont buy the aftermarket tail light guard, it will pop out and chip your paint behind both tail lights, and then you have to do all that (in the other video) to prevent corrosion ) =C Thanks for the vid and the other ones !

just replaced the blinker bulbs on my fj and all of them are working but my blinkers still blink in spaz out mode, $*^$&*&!

I LITERALLY JUST tried doing this myself on my 2012 (4 days ago) and could NOT, I repeat, COULD NOT get my freakin'; hands thru the access "hole" in order to even grab let alone attempt to turn the freakin' bulb!!!!. PLEASE help. I'm not trying to be out riding dirty and get pulled over by the cops!

My sub doesn’t have easy access to those bolts you remove to remove the whole thing. Is there an easy way to take off the face covering to expose those bolts?
