You just made my day! Thank you. I recently retired and actively sought out another FJ Cruiser. Had one brand new in 2013 for 3 years and foolishly sold it with 40k on it for $6k more than I paid. I regretted it the very next day and every day after that. Now, 7 years later, I paid $41k for a one owner loaded 2013 FJ with 39k miles and again, I am insanely happy. I will drive this until the day I die. I love it that much. Also, I am shocked just how many previous FJ owners are just like me and actively seek out another FJ to replace one they foolishly sold. What you save in repairs alone, versus other cars, more than makes up for the modest fuel economy. Worth every penny! Scotty tells the TRUTH! These things just ROCK!

I purchased my second FJ Cruiser this spring. It is 2008 with 45,000 miles and was garage kept by the original owner. Last month I sold my original 2007 FJ Cruiser that I had logged in over 225,000 miles on it with no problems. An FJ will take you anywhere you dare to go and bring back home safely. Been all over the country off roading and camping, the FJ is a beast.

I still have my 07 that I bought new in 08. Runs great and just about ready to turn 100k miles. During the pandemic I upgraded a few things, which really increased my enjoyment of vehicle. I upgraded the headlights with LED bulbs; swapped the CD/radio for a touch screen receiver with CarPlay, rearview camera, and mic for hands free communications; and swapped the OEM sway bars for bigger aftermarket sway bars. The bulbs and receiver really bring a modern touch and convenience to the FJ, and the sway bars noticeably improved handling in turns and stability at highway speeds. The receiver had a kit that allows me to use the controls on the steering wheel to control the receiver. It may not crawl over rocks quite as well with the new sway bars, but I'm not rock crawling. Definitely the best new car value I ever had, even with the poor gas mileage.

A past coworker of mine had one. His biggest complaint was that he had to keep replacing the windshield. We have a 2011 FJ Cruiser TRD we have driven 390,000 with nothing but routine maintenance, a couple brake rotors, calipers and wheel bearings. You are correct about fuel mileage but I have to say this truck has far exceeded my expectations and will buy another one when this one finally gives up. (used of course) Is there any question why Toyota has blown away all other car manufacturers, this is only one model of many that out perform everything else in that class. Keep up the good work Toyota!!!

Really enjoyed this video. I got my 2010 FJ about a year ago. Paid $26k but it had only 44k miles on it. I'm sure the dealer didn't know this was a 'cult' car... something I could have cared less about, as he seemed to be glad to get rid of it. Probably went by bluebook. Anyway, I get 19 hwy/town combo, but stick to the limit while driving. To me it has amazing bump handling. If any of our other cars go over a pot hole, they almost leave the road. Not the FJ. It shakess a little but stays planted. I've had several offers for it, but plan to keep it forever as a 'gentleman's' off roader. It was an almost impulse purchase, but one of the few I've never regretted.

Had my fj since new(dec 06), 230k miles. Besides the usual maintenance, brakes, suspension, radiator, belts/pulleys(regular replacement parts imo at this high mileage). The worse part about the FJ is the rust, this thing does not hold up to rust that well(I'm in Massachusetts). Even though I wash it quite often and have undercoated it, rust beats this thing silly. Also, the brakes every time I do a brake job, calipers seize. Don't know why, but the pistons are always bad when taken off. Overall great truck and going to drive it into the ground. yes, MPG is like 12-15 with a 3" lift and 33's, but who cares.

We pulled away to get out of traffic and I could see her front grill mangled pretty good. She just took off in the opposite direction, probably had no insurance. My bumper just had a little smudge on it and pushed in maybe 1/4", not real noticeable at all. Steel wool buffed out the smudge. Of course this was back when a bumper was a bumper. Sadly I cannot say the same for the frame. It eventually rusted where the spring shackles welded to the frame. But I bet it's 22RE engine is still running somewhere.

@@brianlee7738 holding up quite well as I expected. Been over flooded roads and mud from landslides as well as farms. I do keep the underbody coated to avoid any rusting and I have installed a transmission oil cooler to deal with regular ambient heat here. They are quite popular here as a matter of fact with plenty of aftermarket support.

I own a 2013 FJ. Bought it new. Absolutely bulletproof! Best car I’ve ever owned.

I own a FJ cruiser for about 2 years and it’s awesome. The only downfall is it’s a rust magnet just like the Tacoma’s so you’ll have to keep that under control. Other then that it’s a great ride with high resale value.

Mine is a stick. I have no plans to replace. It does great off road and in the snow. A lot of that depends on tires though. It has been down to 20 below for extended periods and it always starts. They are great vehicles and you don't need someone yelling at you for 10 minutes to show it.

Early versions had a graphite style coating on the head gaskets which liked to dissolve over time , they develop a small leak that will push coolant into the overflow, symptoms are a full overflow, hard or erratic idle on start up , due to small coolant leak into the cylinders on last cool down. I've seen these go past 700 thousand km even with questionable servicing, They are a great engine with the head gaskets sorted using a decent quality mls gasket and the pickup cleaned or inspected regularly.

My family has had our 2011 FJ for two years now, it's our backup vehicle and we've got it up to 240k miles, she's dirty and crusty but I'll damned she is trusty. Wonderful vehicle, typical Toyota quality with a cool exterior. Never plan to get rid of her

What's wrong with a hood rod? 🙄 Less weight and you never have to replace it. I've replaced many hood struts...

Anything that Toyota builds in Japan comes out totally reliable with hardly any major issues.

Thanks Scotty. This is my second time watching your video. I’ve wanted an FJ for a long time. I finally have a 2007 coming in from out-of-state. I’m sooo excited! Can I afford it? Not really but considering the appreciation rate on them, I justify this purchase by saying, “ I can’t afford not to buy it.” I’m only thinking of my family, after all, as I anticipate having tons of fun in this great big toy. When searching for this truck I saw several online that had over 300 K and they still wanted about 8 grand for them.
