My dad bought an auto 2011 fj cruiser new. One of the last off the boat that wasn’t irradiated from the tsunami that year. My family’s only car for 8 years. Moved across the country 3 times, towing everything we had. Gave it to me as my first car a couple months ago. Incredible machine. 138,000 some miles. It’s been off road a lot, when doing research on a bison heard it got rubbed on by bison, leaving some marks that really tell a story. Been through mountains, plains and everything in between. Still fully stock. No repairs needed. Only damage is some cosmetic from use over the years. I’m gonna keep it in the family forever.

I’ve been an Fj owner for years and love both of mine. A manual transmission is not a rare feature and I resent what you said about the roof rack. It’s been very useful. I’ve mounted all kinds of things to it including shovel and ax mounts, a hi-lift jack, lights, all kinds of gear and a rooftop tent. I can go on and on and I assure you the rack is very useful. Also you don’t Fjord water crossings, you ford them. The traction control off switch, the A-Track switch, the rear differential lock and the inverter were all options on the Fj. I also have rear back up sensors and a corresponding switch to turn it on and off on both of my Fj’s. One of them also has a back up camera. I have not found the rear visibility to be an issue at all. All you have to do is learn to use your mirrors. Another thing, I have never heard of a factory Sat/Nav installed in the driver glovebox from Toyota. I’ve seen a couple owner mod’s but not factory. I like the fact that these things were built In japan. The quality of the fj is really good. I’m happy you like your “new” Fj and as time goes on you will become more familiar with it. Enjoy. One more thing for you IFS haters out there. IFS is a perfectly capable system and far more capable then some of you have misled. I own a solid axel Jeep as well and can speak from experience. It all depends on what you are using your off road vehicle for and the kinds of conditions you will be encountering. Cheers!

I bought my '07 FJ when it first came out. It has 165k miles and counting. Side mirrors visibility are limited, but it can be easily corrected with a mini mirror attached. Not so much with spare tire on the back. Been in 3 accidents all 3 were caused by the other driver. The last accident was a head on collision and still here to tell. Safety for my family is the only reason I'm keeping my FJ until the wheels fall off or Toyota reproduce the them.🙏

I purchased my FJ in 2007. With over 210,000 miles; five years as a daily driver and seven years as a retirement ride, it remains my all time favorite vehicle. The FJ has been the perfect option for us exploring 35 National Parks. We have a roof top tent that pops up and a slider that holds a fridge and all of our camping equipment. Looking forward to visiting more National Parks and the next 100,000 miles of fun.

@Kauffman5784 жыл бұрын
Why you sold it?
@jp18924 жыл бұрын
I sold mine too, it's really because I had no choice. I bought the car new in Florida in 2006, shipped to Africa and drove it from Jan 2007 to Jan 2020; never thought of changing it, never wished I had another car, I just plain loved it. It was comfortable, reliable,different, highly capable off-road (never got stuck, even on the beach when pulling boats out of the water). The only maintenance I ever did was the basic oil and filter changes, brake pads and one belt that got eaten by mud (I figured no maintenance is better than bad maintenance, bad mechanics in those places can be car killers). I finally managed to do a good service as the transmission was a bit bumpy, and I had to sell it; after oil change and lubrication, it was as good as anew again. Leaving Africa for Indonesia, I finally sold it in January (LH drive vs RH drive, no import of used cars allowed into Indonesia); I figured, I'll just buy another one. Tough luck, when I arrived, I found out that they sell for $80,000 and up!!!! There is no way I am going to pay this kind of money for an FJ (I paid $28,600 for mine in 2006). This is a brief summary of my love story with my FJ.... it was a blue one.
@siennavanlife95023 жыл бұрын
Sold mine too.. at the time gas was still $3.50/gallon and I was driving all across the country for work, gas was killing me. I paid $35k for it new in 2010, sold it in 2015 with 85k miles back to the dealership for $25k. I knew it was going to appreciate but even if it didn't, I miss it. It was part of my soul... so many amazing places I took that thing. I don't just want 'a' FJ, I want to find that exact one. I don't care if it has 400,000 miles and it's completely trashed. It was my baby for 5 years.

Heck I work as a Toyota dealer mechanic and they rarely come in. The last time we had one for service was 5 months ago and the last time I’ve physically seen one was 2 weeks ago that got traded in for a Tundra. It had 200,000 clocked but it was such in good shape and because it’s rare they decided to sell it. Normally high mileage cars regardless if it’s an in demand Camry in decent shape or some crappy GM car, gets booted to auction.

@A-Negative5 жыл бұрын
Matthias H I had trouble getting one, took about 2 months to find a good one-the good ones were overpriced or they were gone before I could get to them. The dealers say the average time on lot is 3 days for a good one. I had to buy this one sight unseen, and have it driven down to me or I would have lost it on day 1. Because of 10k I wasn’t worried. The ford dealership I got it at up north had never had one they underpriced it by a fair bit cause they didn’t know what they had. They figured it out because everyone started calling from all over the US apparently but I already committed.
