Top 2 frame bolts on my 2004 Trailblazer accepted either 21mm or 13/16 wrenches. I found using channel lock pliers for final removal of these bolts more useful than regular pliers. The directions for removal and replacement are easy to follow and very helpful.

Just got my order from 1A auto for these. 4 bushings from a major auto parts store was the same price as buying the 2 control arms fom 1A auto, and don't have to mess with pressing out bushings. Nice!

Another super helpful video! Had to bend the edge of the fender on the front driver's side a bit to get the bolt all the way out tho. Just get a big pry bar in there and use the bolt for leverage to pull the lip towards you until the bolt will clear, won't hurt anything.

All these videos of upper and lower control arms ball joint and so on WITHOUT TORQUE SPECS!. Torque spec, are very important and should be disclosed in your and everyone's videos.

To be fair he did say to torque them down to about 100 ft pounds or as hard as the wrench will let you is acceptable too. In reality the torque rating is 108 ft pounds but trying to get the torque wrench in there is a nightmare unless you have 2 swivel sockets and an extension to get behind the frame. As for the locking bolt for the ball joint it’s 30 ft pounds but 30 ft pounds is well within hand tightening range.

The 21mm bolts should they b tight because I'm told I have some space between n it shouldn't b n it's creating more issues with ball joints

I was driving my truck and the bolt popped out and had to pull over. Would buying a new bolt and bushing fix the problem or is the threading stripped that can prevent me from screwing in the new bolt?

How do I know when il it's needed to be replaced? my car makes noise when I go over bumps and turn wheel right to left in that case all the time???
@CallMeehCaptain7 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth Mendez you look at the bushings and if it makes a noise when you move it it needs to be replaced
@CallMeehCaptain7 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth Mendez also your steering wheel will shake alot going down bump hills and often times you cant even use brakes

Only 100 ft lbs for the upper control arm bolts I thought it was 144 but I did the same you can only fit an open end wrench and yank as hard as you can lol hopefully they don’t loosen up

would this method work on driver side too with clearance issues?
@1AAuto7 жыл бұрын
+Captain Balor Thank you for checking us out. The procedure for the driver side should be very similar, however due to the clearance issues some other components may be required to be loosened or removed in order to fully replace. 1aauto.com

Just changed mine. My caster is now 4 degrees negative and my steering wheel won’t return to center on its own. Does this repair normally affect caster?
@CorvetteTrev3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you need to get the front alignment
@koshnaranek23172 жыл бұрын
Caster is mainly controlled by the lower control arm mounting bracket.

I really like your videos. Very helpful and easy to follow. Question: when replacing the upper control arms on the Trailblazer/Envoy, is it necessary to replace the ball joints as well, or only if they are frozen? Thanks!
@1AAuto10 жыл бұрын
You may want to take the age, mileage and condition on the ball joints into consideration. If you plan on keeping the vehicle and they have seen better days, you may want to replace them while you are in there as a preventative maintenance measure. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day. 1aauto.com

Is it better just to replace the whole control arm, when the bushings are bad? It looks like a pain to eject the bushings, and you have to take the damn arm off anyway..thanks! good video👍
@1AAuto7 жыл бұрын
+A. S. Sometimes it is easier. We carry a lot of control arm kits with the bushings already in place, many times the ball joints too! Here's a link to the control arm we installed in this video on our website. Hope this helps you out www.1aauto.com/control-arm-front-passenger-side/i/1asfu00020#KZbin&CTA%20Comment&

Hey, Are you supporting the vehicle under the frame, or under the lower control arm? I am asking because I want to make sure there isn't spring tension on the suspension before I start loosening things. Sudden spring pressure release could hurt, and suck. Thanks for the video Jeff
