So I didn't buy this part, but I always buy 1A Auto parts. Luckily a friend had an assembly with a motor laying around. This video helped me diagnose, and fix my problem on my 1995 Dodge Ram 3500. I plugged the motor in to make sure it worked, and I watched this video while working on mine. Got it done fairly fast with no issues! Windows working great! Always recommend 1A Auto

This video was of great help. Tip: mind the alignment notch on the bracket with square screw holes. It keys to a small hole next to panel screw- there is only one. It flipped around and machine did not align. But I corrected the error of my ways. When unhooking the motor, I held the frame with my longest pliers to avoid a pinch when the spring unloaded (more like exploded). The part arrived with the clock spring unhooked from the tab. Put it in a vise. Use a beefy screwdriver to wrap the spring hook back on the tab. Good job by The Bearded Technician! New window works smoothly now. Vehicle is a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500.

To eliminate the possibility of losing a finger or 4. Before you remove the window motor to install the new 1. With the mechanism all the way down & out of the door drill a hole through the 2 pieces of metal by the spring & gear arm & put a screw through the hole. That will hold the arm from opening when the old motor is removed & eliminate the possibility of losing a finger or 4. Remove the motor & install the new 1 bolt it back together & remove the screw & replace the mechanism back in the door. I just did that this past weekend on my 01 Ram 1500 & it worked like a charm. & NO you dont need to place the new motor in the exact same position as the old 1 it's a motor on a gear box it will cycle just like it did before it stopped working.

There was a problem installing this part. Perhaps Len can make a note at 15:35 mins, the arm needs to be facing the correct way. It completely swivels on the bearing. If you put it on with the arm facing the wrong direction, it will bind up the regulator making a very loud clunking sound halfway up. The mounting blocks are slightly different. One is approx 3/4", the other is approx 1 1/2". I spent nearly 2 hours trying to figure it out. Otherwise, it's a great video and I'm happy my window functions properly again.

When you put the regulator back you have to be careful not to jam the actuator rod that runs from the inside door handle to the latch or your lock and latch may get jammed where the two parallel bolts attach the rear assembly of the regulator.

I ordered this part from this link and it mounts and works but the window to regulator bolts don't line up and the rail on my part does NOT slide back and forth. Did I get a junk part or am I doing something wrong. I can supply pictures.

It's rather difficult if you have never done it. To remove the regulator from the bottom part of the window, roll it down where you can see and work on the bottom tract. Then you will need to move the disconnected window back up all the way and tape it well without breaking it.

What if the window will not go down to a bad motor/regulator? What would you do in this situation?

My question is, how do you remove the glass from the track/assembly, when the motor is bad and the glass is up? Hence, you can't let the glass down to access the nuts?

hey the video was great but when he was putting the new one in and had the first 2 bolts set in there he says, "now just move this" idk what "this" was, not sure why its not looking like its fitting the same. my part is the exact same as the one in the video plus the motor but it doesn't seem like it wants to fit properly (I'm guessing it wasn't rolled up or down the same amount upon putting it in the car but my motor is butting right up against the speaker hole. idk, good vid, just explain even the most nitty gritty details of the install. thanks

He doesn't tell you while he's doing it (but he does it if you watch) that the motor must be in the WINDOW DOWN position before you try to line up any of the screws holding the regulator in. I fought with the thing until I realized that was the only way the thing would fit. Once that was done, everything else was easy.

I found it easier not to remove the regulator, only the motor/tranny- three bolts. Remove as few bolts from the regulator as possible starting from the front and working to the rear

Hey, quick question. I plan on doing the same with my 2000 Ram Sport 1500. If I remove the motor only won’t the spring come unhinged. What keeps the spring in place once the motor is removed?

Great INFO.. However.. the parts were ... let's say INCOMPLETE. Order number 6438. Shipped June 4th 2020.. order was wrong .. and Window Regulator had no tapped holes for the bolts.. Hhmmmmm. I wonder how A1 will handle this POOR QUALITY CONTROL ISSUE?

My window is stuck midway how do I get it to drop so that I can reach the bottom bolts that hold the window

[phone] Thanks for the question. Remove the regulator mounting bolts from the door frame, then lift the regulator/glass up till the bolts that attach the regulator to the glass are aligned with the access holes in the door. The glass isn't very heavy, if you don't have a helper, just use a lot of masking tape to hold the glass up against the door.
