Er, I've never said this in 73 years, 60 of which were spent trying to master this instrument (I had a Gibson just like that, color and all): Thank you, Marcus King, for letting us listen to this blues masterpiece, including your amazing blues voice. You're better than Eric Clapton, a hero to me, B.B. King, a hero to every blues enthusiast, but not better than Stevie Ray Vaughn, although you could definitely hold your own with him on stage. Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, and Gary Moore are more rocky, less bluesy; and in their own unique path were unsurpassed; however, again, they didn't play pure blues as Marcus does here. Where is this young man going to end up? Will he surpass Stevie Ray Vaughn? What would that even sound like?

everyone always compares the solos like it's some kind of competition. The magic is more in the dynamics of the band. Be in tune, have good tone and have a conversation. Everyone should play like themselves. If you're a guitar player? what would you play? B.B. King licks? SRV? Clapton? Albert Collins? Or... like you??

I think it was Gary Moore who said that Albert Collins once told him he could improve his playing by just playing every other note. ha I'm thinking this the whole time I'm watching Mr. King play (and sing). To me, he's over the top almost the entire time he's playing, and I'd prefer a little more finesse, but that's just me. He's talented, that's for damn sure.
@marcroy85756 жыл бұрын
It will come in time. He is young.
@guitrr6 жыл бұрын
Agreed; he's at full throttle most of the time, but that's normal at that age. I don't enjoy listening to high speed guitar wanking, but we'll see where he is in ten years. He's certainly got the raw material (talent), and his vocals are terrific. Kirk and Josh - oh yes!

I agree, some more finesse and breathing space in his playing and little more variation in his singing and I'm happy. But like others said: He is still young. It will come with time. The raw material certainly is there! Now Josh on the other hand...!
