I was also taught how to sharpen without any sharpener. this sounds like a great tool to have.

excellent. I engraved at tiffany and company, the graver tool sharpener we use is very old school. this was definitely interesting and a well thought out design finally for the point tool graver. I had never seen anything like this and i started engraving in 1975

I use these for hand push, the heel though ive found, if you angle it and make kind of a wedge on the heels, its much better, the parallel heel seems to make hand push harder...and i can go around corners with my wedge heel

I wonder if you have any adapter to use the grs double angle fixture with your extension collets. I love the templates, very easy to use. Just sometimes I need to regulate the angles for some "Bespoke tools" and it would be great to quickly change your collets on it. Actually having a Lindsay double angle would be great too

sorry last comment was incorrect. but a full set for engraving including the ingraver the diamond sharpener compressor and everything you need will cost you around 3000 dollar. Expensive yes! but these tools keep there value!! try to find an airgraver for sale nobody sells them and if they do, there prices are near the new price... i dont own one of these sets yet. i do a goldsmith education and later will pick on the engraving. look on the lindsay airgraver website pretty neat stuff!

Very interesting video, I am however concerned that the height od the stones is not mentioned. I have the GRS Power Hone with 250,-600,-1000 & diamond disks but theyare obviously to high to get the angle required for gravers. Could you advise me what thickness I might use to get the angles correct, if you please. RD
@plaarb10 жыл бұрын
Rudi - stone height for the Lindsay system is 1/2".

@@plaarb please help me , i always make mistakes in the tinny hell part. My question is how high is the whetstone for sharpening on the Tinny Hell? thank you
@plaarb2 жыл бұрын
@@mbootgae1497 If you are using the Lindsay system, every operation is completed using whetstones (or diamond sharpening stones) that are 1/2 inch high. That includes making the heel on the graver. A couple of swipes are usually all that's needed to make the heel.

Can I use this system for air assist as well as hand push, I am new to this, I have been carving for years on wood, but would like to learn more about graving metal. yes the cost is very expensive, but it looks like if we follow the steps we will have an easier time with he learning curve, this man has a wonderful way of teaching, I am very thankful for these tips on the subject and will subscribe. thank you for taking time to show us the way to use the tooling. finding good info is very hard to do, I have been reading anything I can find, seems ether people are master gravers and to busy, or are trying to figure out how to balance cost with needs to learn and grow like the rest of us.

Hey could i ask what the dimensions of the actual templates are( height, width, thicknesses, angle's etc..)? I m trying to make my own at home rather than paying for a piece of plastic.

good video, thanks - I notice that You Tube category is 'pets & Animals' - (!) don't know if that ,makes it harder for folks to find your video, so thought I would let you know, just in case.

@MaTchBoOkPoEt a cheaper system will cost you a total of 1000 bucks, yet working with expensive tools makes the job done allot nicer faster and easier!

Steve seems like a nice guy, and I don't mind him making a living, but I kind of think his jewelry background is having him use the standard 300% markup common for that market. The tools are nice enough, but _way_ overpriced for what you get, IMHO, but he has buyers who'll pay that much, so more power to him. There are other, cheaper ways to go that will get you the same results.
