Hello Paul. Your videos have been a game changer for me. Thank you. I went ahead and replaced the Exhaust Pressure Fitting on my 2014 Etec 150. Everything went smooth and had no issues. However, I noticed a lot of GUNK inside the hole where the fitting goes. My question is, is this condition normal and if not, what is the next step? is removing the gunk out with a small screwdriver a good option? Thank you. Cron.

Pretty normal, I clean mine the best I could and replaced the hose and orifice.

01:25 hi, after I've watched your video I've realized my E-tec 175 2011 (don't know if the model/year matters) does not have the "orifice restrictor" you mentioned, nor I was able to find in the service manual (pg 95, MAINTENANCE - EXHAUST PRESSURE FITTING - Evinrude E-TEC 2010 Service Manual). Would be so kind to post the part number for this orifice restrictor? In the manual service at the same mentioned section talks about a Diaphragm assembly. Do you know which part this is? ~ If barometric pressure reading is accurate with hose removed, replace hose and diaphragm assembly. and inspect exhaust fitting for restriction.~

Not sure honestly, the orifice was in my hose right at the EEM. Not sure if something changed between years or not. I do not have the P/N on hand, however I ordered all my parts from Barnicle Bills Marine...they specialize in ETECs and are a wealth of knowledge.

Thinking about buying a used boat with a 2018 Evinrude 250 etec on it with less that 100 hours on it. What should I look for on this purchase and is the etec a good motor?
@1Cast1Fish21 күн бұрын
The ETEC is a great motor when maintained...but like anything if it was not maintained well it can be trouble. Low hours sounds great, but that is very low IMO...I would take it to a reputable TEC and have it checked out completely. One thing to watch for on older "Low Hour" motors is if fuel and such has just been sitting in things, Another problem I have heard of is scam people selling used junk motors. If the motor had issues and they replaced the EEM it would show the hours of the replacement not the real motor hours. You have to dig a tad deeper with the diagnostic software to verify EEM hours and motor hours and such all match. Like I said it is no more reliable or unreliable than any other motor IMO...but due diligence is always due when purchasing used motors.

Could you link to the hose and Orfice used id like to replace mine too
@1Cast1Fish4 ай бұрын
I don't have a link for the hose and orifice, I got mine from Barnicle Bills Marine Supply...they specialize in ETEC's. Give them a call. It was kind of expensive for what it is, but everything is expensive anymore :(

part numbers for hose, and orifice??

Same thing, I never even knew my engine had one. When I changed my hose a year ago I cleaned up the fitting at the exhaust and put back together the hose with no orifice restrictor,

P/N 0353038 Restrictor Plug P/N 0352415 Hose, Exhaust Back Pressure Nipple to EMM Double check with your specific motor model number

It regulates the exhaust pressure that the EMM see's, along with preventing carbon from ending up in the EMM

My 300, didnt have thay little fittings inside of the pipe? ?? Do all have that?
@1Cast1Fish3 ай бұрын
Not 100% as I do not have a manual for the 300, but if it had the Exhaust Pressure Fitting, and it went to the EEM...then I believe it should be in there somewhere...to protect the computer.

Is this hose connected from the EMM to the VST?
@1Cast1Fish3 ай бұрын
The Exhaust Pressure Fitting hose connects to the EMM....VST is separate system

Stupid comment, but I cannot find the hose anymore (discontinued) for a 2008 250 etec. Crowley marine cant get it either. Is there a generic hose I can use and cut to fit? I know some hoses are for fuel, some for other purposes. I need 25" for my motor. Thanks.

These gen 1 engines were actually pretty reliable. People just don’t take care of them and they tend to run crappy fuel through them.
@1Cast1Fish5 ай бұрын
Proper maintenance and good fuel are very important in theses G1's...properly taken care of motors last a looooooong time

@@1Cast1Fish agreed. I have the opportunity to buy a 2008 250HO but I’m a little hesitant because parts availability might be an issue now a days.
@1Cast1Fish5 ай бұрын
Most parts are still available and many used motors can be had pretty cheap. Depends on hours, maintenance, and price.
