1KD Hilux Prado cracked piston 3 pistons 3 injectors still they crack why 1HDT 1KZ 1HDfte 1GD don’t

Very interesting to hear. Over here in NZ we obviously have a substantially cooler climate. We dont seem to have anywhere near your issues of cracked pistons you seem to. Our local courier has 1.2 mil kms on his 1kd hiace. On its second clutch and gearbox now but get this. Never had injectors. No cracked pistons etc. Thousands of 1kd hiluxs and main issues is clogged intakes and injector seats. I have the last version 2014 prado with 1kd and it seems like it will tun forever. Just like my 04 1HD-FTE. Thanks for your intel. Keep it coming

good on ya mate I sold my toyota landcruiser because I recon they are shit box too complicated and not reliable but I find most modern vehicles are I just don't know what to buy.

If you were ever to have this problem of cracked pistons and you were going to rebuild your motor would it be worth putting in slightly stronger Pistons ??

Yes. There are upgrades pistons from Toyota or forgeds.

Don’t tow with the 1KD

Add boost to a 1HZ and they do the same thing, melt/crack pistons. Toyota pistons are shit.
