Thanks Dave, yes solid balsa, chord is about 13,5cm most part, but needs to be waterproofed. Balsa is very sensitive to moisture, so better use clear coat on it or something similar.

Hi, thanks for all informations. Just a few questions: receiver is directly connected to battery? Is it 1s 3,7v 400mah? That Micro servos operate between 4,8 and 6 volts? Is it enough from that battery? Thanks a lot
@afilos3 жыл бұрын
Yes to all ! 1s 400 is good for even 4 servos, and the flight time will be more than an hour (1-1.5h). Servos will work perfectly, just a bit slower, but no problem with gliders.

Do You think that FlySky FS-iA6B Receiver 6CH 2.4G (Input power: 4.0-6.5V DC) would works with an 1C 3,7 V 450mA Li-Po or I have to use 5V dc-dc converter with an 7,4 V Li-Po? Thanks!
@afilos4 жыл бұрын
No it won't work, it loses signal and you will crash. You need a step up or a step down voltage regulator, but then you add extra weight. You should use the one i use, which is ok for a 4 chanel plane if you solder a battery connector directly to the pins of the receiver.
@goldenfish774 жыл бұрын
@@afilos Thank You for Your answer! So it can cause that the battery (3,7 V) will connect to the receiver without any cable and there is no waste energy?
@afilos4 жыл бұрын
@@goldenfish77 you solder a cable (black, red) that ends to a battery connector on the two pins of the receiver and at which you connect and disconnect your battery. If you want i can send you a photo.

@@afilos As You tell me that I have to see RCGroup forum, I found this thread: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?958260-3-7V-receiver-battery-OK Voltage booster it seems to be good (3-4 gram extra weight) for an 3,7 V Li-Po.

How do you choose attributes for your builds? Just copying from other planes? Gut feeling? I mean distance of stabilizers from wing, size of stabilizers, outer wing shape etc.
@afilos2 жыл бұрын
Mainly copying other plans. This one, as you can see in the video description, is a copy from 1m hawk dlg.

Hello, I'm new to RC and want to build a small dlg. Seems like you have only elevator and ailerons for control surfaces correct? No rudder?
@afilos4 жыл бұрын
Yes correct, no rudder.
@C11ffH4ng3r3 жыл бұрын
Also looking to build my first rc plane and will do a balsa DLG. What would you say is the difference between ailerons and rudder? Rudder would require one less servo i.e. save some weight? What about rudder and ailerons vs elevons(?) in a V-shape on the tail? To me it looks like the general design of a rudder sticking down would be prone to damage? Also what kind of flytime do you usually get with the receiver/battery?
@afilos3 жыл бұрын
@@C11ffH4ng3r you can't combine v-tail with DLG, you wont be able to launch straight. Indeed the tail is prone of braking on bad landings, that why we try to catch them rather then land them. You can fly equaly well a rudderless plane and a full house plane. Flying time would be around 1h with this setup.

How do you shape the profile of the wing? I see you have a link to the profile in the description
@afilos4 жыл бұрын
The plans is a true copy of the hawk (see comments) and the airfoil is a AG46ct -02f rot. (airfoiltools.com/airfoil/details?airfoil=ag46ct02r-il). Use a 0.8*10*100 balsa sheet 72grams, cut it in half and cut the wing tips as per the plan. Glue a hardwood strip (I use a 2,5mm basswood) onto the entire LE (this is a must!) and give the shape of an airfoil to the two wing halfs using the following method www.charlesriverrc.org/articles/construction/markdrela_airfoilshaping.pdf. Stick the airfoil paper profile on to the root side of each wing and start marking where you want your cut's to be . Bottom wing side is flat. Shape the dihedral of the wings the way I show you in my videos and glue them with 5min epoxy. Glass the entire wing root connection top and bottom with a 3cm strip of a 25-80gr/sq2 fiberglass (I used a 25gr/sq2) with 5min epoxy. Balance the wing after installing the wing peg. Good Luck
