LIVE BAIT vs. ARTIFICIAL LURE Fishing Challenge -- Which Catches BIGGER Fish???

Күн бұрын

Ever since I was young, I was always told that to catch more fish, and bigger fish, live bait was always the best option to choose. After fishing for over a decade with both live and artificial baits, I decided to carry out an experiment, and see which would out-fish the other in a 1v1 challenge! The answer may seem obvious, but you never know what will happen until you actually try it!!!

*I used to fish with a Crippled Killer growing up in the 50/60’s and **enjoyable.fishing** recommend think this lure gas a smoother propeller action. It is a great surface lure.*

Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit kzbin.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

It's not that they eat everything, it's that they multiply faster than other fishes like largemouth bass. Leo's logic is optimistic but intentionally ignorant.
@someoneelse2262
@someoneelse2262 7 жыл бұрын
You miss Leo's point, which is a good one. He's talked about it a lot elsewhere. His point is that most fish that people think about as native are in fact invasive (rainbow trout in most waters, brown trout, bass in a lot of waters, etc. So it's a choice to decide you would rather catch fish a over fish b when both are in fact invasive. Also, what he says about the niche they fill is important as well. He's not intentionally ignorant. It is rather some of the most scientifically informed on youtube (rather than being based on emotion and arbitrary valuation of one invasive over another).
@jason.orbita
@jason.orbita 7 жыл бұрын
Someone Else you're still missing the one fact that makes the snakehead truly bad for the ecosystem. One snakehead can lay up to 50 THOUSAND eggs in a life time. A largemouth bass will lay up to 15 THOUSAND. These snakehead eat up the forage before bass can eat, which is probably why 1rod caught that skinny bass.

@Terzy
@Terzy 7 жыл бұрын
+Brenden Godfrey Are you fucking stupid? The Fwc encourages people who catch the fish to keep it but it's not against the law to release them. It IS against the law to transport or release them into a different body of water from where you caught it.

One of the main advantages of live bait- it catches fish more reliably, but tends to hook fish deeper, especially with inexperienced anglers. This is less of an issue if you are fishing for food, but lures are better for catch and release, because they tend to hook fish in the mouth.
@fireriver6104
@fireriver6104 7 жыл бұрын
to catch gar you need: 1. no give in your line (braid is perfect) it doesn't stretch so that allows for a better hook set. It must be straight to the lure/bait (no mono or flouro leader)! 2. You need a fast action tip for a better hookset that white rod you have is too flimsy and flexible. 3. extremely sharp hooks to penetrate that bitch!😉 Those are the steps to keep a gar on your line. and technically, 1rod's first "unlanded" fish was landed because he got it on the bank even though it flopped back in the water.

Its against the law to release an invasive species into waters really anywhere in the US. Once you pick that fish out of the water you have ownership over it, therefore if you put it back you are breaking the law. Ive seen you like 4 times in this comment section spreading misinformation. Snakeheads are cohabitating as much as the pythons are.

@terzy as someone who used to live in Miami.. Trevor is actually Correct... It is against the law to release a invasive species into waters or land anywhere in the US... And sean ... you seem to know very little.... I fished in Florida the whole time i lived there and knew the laws.... Once you land the fish its in your ownership.. so by putting it back you are letting an invasive species go.... please learn what you guys are talking about before you bash this guy

I dont like this guy, I find he treats fish disrespectful, trying to keep the fish out of his water with his feet. I think this clearly shows that the catch and competition is more important to him than the well being of the fish. Just my two cents.

In NY it's actually illegal to release Snakeheads if you catch them. You are required to keep it, freeze it, and contact the DEC. I don't mind, I'd do anything to help the great lakes.

IGFA rules state that if your leader touches your rod tip, the fish is officially caught. So even though you didnt get an official measurement, the first fish (gar) was a legal catch by IGFA standards and should count towards your total.
