0:00 Genshin Impact Main Theme. Scott had a longer draft but we only used 16 bars to cut down the overall length of the medley. 0:42 Windborne Hymn, the music at the church. This piece was chosen primarily because its tonality (A major) fits well with the main theme (G lydian and it ends on an E major triad!). In addition to that, frequent borrowing of chords from A minor makes it easier to connect to the next piece (F major). I also made some variations to the melody. 1:16 Bustling Afternoon of Mondstadt. We made it start slowly, gradually gain momentum and finally rush into the battle that comes after. The transition was a bit tricky due to the difference between the lively melody in Mondstadt and the longer phrases in the battle. We skipped the middle section (kinda pre-chorus?) to keep it short. 1:58 Rite of Battle. We picked a more lyrical section of the pieces with the simplest rhythmic patterns (boy there are 5/8 6/8 7/8 everywhere!) At the end we inserted the Teyvat battle motif (in 15/8) which first appeared in Photon of Fluctuation (didn't use that piece because it doesn't really have a melody, not so good for our medley). 2:39 3 pieces from Springvale and Dawn Winery. The winery one has been transposed to A minor to save trouble from switching keys. For each piece we only used a short section and discarded the rest (sorry to Travis who arranged the pieces). The final transition to Boreal Wolf was mind-bending because the qualities of two pieces don't fit well. In the finalised draft we compromised by completely stopping the music at a dominant 7th chord before banging on the tonic and kick-starting the battle. 3:44 Symphony of Boreal Wind. The build-up from the strings section was so epic that we failed to recreate it on the piano - so what y'all see is kinda free arrangement of the original piece, with Animenz-ish textures as opposed to Yu-Peng's string ostinato. 5:31 Charge! Fearless Warriors. Having this one after Boreal Wolf has always been in Scott's mind because both pieces are in Bb minor (what a precious coincidence!) and the ostinato at the end of wolf theme dilutes the different time signatures between two pieces. 6:42 Forlorn Child of Archaic Winds and Forsaken Child Ancient Times, both transposed to D minor to match the next piece. Both harmony and texture have been significantly modified to fit into the flow of music and storytelling. 7:38 Riders of the Wind, Onward. Stage 1 of Dvalin battle. Fun(?) fact: it's in 20/16. 8:05 Caelestinum Finale Termini! The melody before the improvisation is actually found in the woodwind section, just that we played in double speed. Scott played the final chorus way faster than in his upload 1 year ago - a surprise to the old fans lol and it's stunning. 9:19 Tender Strength. Great because Dvalin battle is in G minor and this piece starts on G major triad (IV of D major). Later it goes to G major and gives smooth transition to the main theme in G lydian. For this piece we sticked to the original as closely as possible. 10:15 Genshin Impact Main Theme, again. The harmony has been varied in a way which Scott forgot when he first heard of it. Later we found it in a CG - featuring Tender Strength and Main Theme after Dvalin Battle! I guess no wonder we pick the two pieces. The way Liyue motif (and the subsequent Moon in One’s Cup) emerges from the main theme is also quite surprising.

I love that about the dvalin 1st stage theme you put a question mark about the fact that it's in 20/16, I feel the pain just reading but oh god how I feel the pain too listening because of the intensity and the sound, the arrangement is so good, how the melody poured itself into Caelestinum Finale Termini was... incredible, and I digress, anyway made me laugh a bit

The ordering is phenomenal. It's a journey, and it's emotionally retaining; we get the majesty of Genshin's Mondstadt that hits us when we first start playing, then all the beauty, then the intense tracks, but with some down time since none of that compares to the slowly built finale of Dvalin, and Tender Strength (that I personally always associate with Venti)--- I'm running out of words, I love this so much
@LISA.WANG.3 жыл бұрын
1:26 I have never appreciated Monstadt's theme this much before, it even feels nostalgic, this is so beautiful 😭 3:05 SPRINGVALE TO DAWN WINERY-- My two most favorite??? 5:58 Damn I never knew this sounded so good on piano
@steno79553 жыл бұрын
Absolutely phenomenal. I can't describe in words how much I love this, but dammit I'll give it a try Music has always been the best part of Genshin for me. All of the locations, the memorable battles and encounters, were all linked together through music. Take Dvalin for instance - coming to Stormterror's lair for the first time and hearing Forlorn Child of Archaic Winds, you can hear and feel Dvalin's entire tragedy as you wander through the broken, ruined city. Transitioning into Riders of the Wind, you can feel Dvalin's sorrow and Mondstadt's crisis all coming together into a decisive battle, ending in Caelestinum Finale Termini. Hearing a new take on all these incredible themes really brings me right back to when I first experienced all these moments. Thanks so much for the arrangement Scott! I hope everyone listening has a happy anniversary and let's all get hyped for the concert!

I like how you did the arrangement as how the story progresses. I had a nostalgia did the same thing to his Konosuba cover. This is a very good job indeed. Thanks to those who helped you with this arrangement. Also thanks to Hoyo-mix and Yu-Peng chen for creating auch wonderful and impactful music. And thanks to you too for continuing to create these sensational covers. Despite all the hate towards the game, I think no one would hate the music they are making. So still HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
