1st Annual New Year’s Day Cruise-In Car Show, Sequim, Washington

The weather was perfect for the first annual New Year’s Day Cruise-In Car Show in Sequim! Since I had taken my 1931 Ford Model A Pickup out for a winter drive two days earlier, I knew that it was running great and that I could drive the 6-miles distance to the car show location at the old JC Penny parking lot. Although there weren’t a lot of visitors, there was a good showing of a variety of vintage vehicles. The old JC Penny building has been purchased by the Shipley Senior Center for a proposed health and wellness annex building, significantly expanding the facility and services already provided to a growing populace of retirees. Until the remodeling of the building is complete, which is expected to be in about two years, we hope that the Shipley Senior Center will continue to allow car shows in their parking lot.

Thanks for your comment and questions! The owner before my dad, By Wingett, who owned a Texaco gas station put on the Texaco logo stickers. That was more than 25 years ago! By liked the look of the Texaco logos so he kept them. When he handed over the keys to me before he passed at age 96, I decided to keep the Texaco logos on the Model A too. Everyone I have met at the car shows agree that they belong there. We don't know of any Norwegian Elkhound breeders in Washington State, although we have met people who said they use to breed Elkhounds or knew someone who used to. There are few remaining Elkhound breeders in the US. Skye was bred in Colorado and flown to us on Alaska Air.
