21:26 I liked the smoothness of the flying -- no issues there. I didn't try punch outs, as you did, but did some fast cruising and a flip here or there. The battery life was lacking, at least on this unit that Kelly has. We got around 4 minutes while flying outdoors or more aggressively. The antenna was hard to get into the 3D mount, after the tubing started to flare out. Despite all its shortcomings, for flying around people or indoors without an action camera, it's a decent quad for sure.

Hi Nick Great video and review of the Emax Cenihawk. Well two issues with this one. First what about Analog ? What about DJI V1 googles? Anything else needs to be said. Yes it's gorgeous video, but $500 for a 3.5in whoop ? I'm out, I could never afford it. But thanks again for the video

I just watched the Mr.Camps video on this quad, silly guy turned it on with a finger in the way. I think he learned a valuable lesson regarding prop removal before working on it. Fortunately the damage wasn't too bad and he kinda was joking a little about it in the end. Needless to say this video contained more information and flight time. 2:40 When you said it was wired up for SBUS, is that something you can explain or is it a rabbit hole? Is that just a setting in betaflight to change, or was the wiring messed up? The reason I'm asking, is that Kelly (Ready Set Drone) had an issue with wires reversed and had to flip them in the O3 Air unit to get his controller to work.
@NickBurnsFPV Жыл бұрын
I didn't have to change anything for the O3 to work in my senario, to mean that i didn't use the grey dji fpv radio/controller. The receiver wiring was for the pnp/plug and play version. In my case the receiver wiring was setup for sbus. Elrs needs rx and tx where sbus is a single receiver pad/port. Hopefully that helps some

I'm amazed that a CineWhoop flying so early in the morning so close to other housing did not generate aggressive neighbours with brooms (or shotgun). It's too big and noisy for urban garden use IMO. So basically its a 3.5" Babyhawk II HD with an O3 and cine whoop shape frame........ and over $500 with ELRS?? Far FAR too rich. I can afford the O3, but can easily live without it. I have two BH II HD's, one on FrSky, the other modded onto ELRS. I'll just design and 3D print a couple of $ cost prop guard to battery strap it onto one of them for the non-display to others proximity flying I do. Thanks for video, appreciate your efforts as always, but no thanks on the model, and to EMax, when are you going to do a decently robust 5" freestyle again, my Sport Hawk and Hawk5 are not going to live forever!!

@@NickBurnsFPV Nick, I wish I could post pics here to support what I'm saying. I need to build my web site, or start posting videos... In the mean while, here you go. Out of the box issues: • The O3 video cable was sticking up out of the top of the quad where it could easily get snagged and damaged. Right in the action cam mounting area. • The O3 flight controller connection harness was also sticking out in the air, behind the VTX mount into the battery mounting area. • The O3 antenna was not in the antenna mount, perceivably for shipping. Getting it into the TPU holder was impossible. • The O3 antenna wiring was routed such that it made a sharp downward bend from the back of the VTX. It was routed under the mounting plate causing a lot of stress on the wires. • The O3 VTS and camera still had all the stickers on them. This adds insulation which retains heat and goes against the advice provided by DJI, to mount the unit directly to the carbon fiber to help dissipate the heat. • The TPU camera protector was twisted on the camera. Additionally, the design would prevent the use of ND filters. • The TPU camera mounts, marked L and R, were swapped; L was on the right side of the camera. They each have a flat side and a reinforced angle side. With the angled side facing the camera, the mounts were bent out of shape by the mounting screws. • The noise capacitor was mounted at the battery connection where it is of no use. The way that it is attached and held by heat shrink made it nearly impossible to bend and connect to the battery. • While there is a notch in the duct, it is nearly impossible to plug a USB micro cable into the flight controller. I searched the web for a suitable 90° adapter, but everything has the connector with the flat side facing the wrong way. Even if the connector was flipped, the distance between the connector and the duct is too great for a 90° adapter. I was able to disassemble the quad enough to correct the out of the box issues. Sadly, I had to cut one of the plastic retainer clips on the top of the rubber dampeners in order to correct the antenna wiring. Thankfully they provided one spare clip. I had to heat and bend a USB cable in order to connect to the flight controller. Firmware, Betaflight, Binding, Etc. • The flight controller connected to Betaflight without a problem. I saved the factory tune before doing anything else. • I calibrated the gyro on a level bench. • I was not able to talk to the receiver through Betaflight. • The wifi connection to the receiver, ELRS, was not as expected. Two different connections showed up on my laptop during the first minute of connection. Neither of these were the typical ELRS net. After much frustration, and ignorant responses from EMAX, I left the thing plugged and let it sit. After three minutes, the ELRS network popped up and I was able to login, update the firmware and set my binding phrase… • Trying to update the FC firmware was a PITA. I had to use the ImpulseRC tool. I was able to get everything updated and added or changed all of settings needed to fly. By the way, I don't know how you BNF with a controller when the PID settings are unknown. Trial and error programming your controller? There was no ARM setting in the stock PID. Other Issues • There is no OSD. I thought maybe the controller is so cheap that they didn't include it. But after researching the topic, I found that the Babyhawk II HD AIO, which is what the Cinehawk uses, does indeed have OSD. And I've seen evidence that it works on at least two KZbin posts. I've also not seen OSD data on a few other posts. Which makes me wonder. I have not yet found a solution for this problem.
@NickBurnsFPV Жыл бұрын
@@TomHerriman I certainly wouldn't claim the list is usual or unusual as I read them, it can vary from manufacturer to manufacture how they design and build. I don't often use betaflight passthrough mode to update elrs, I believe it requires being in dfu mode and then exiting dfu prior to flashing. I normally use wifi updating for elrs, by default elrs wifi doesn't turn on for 1 minute, on my pc I will turn off wifi and back on to capture the new (elrs rx) wifi network. Updating the fc can often require the driver fixer tool, this is due to the windows driver and likely security keeping the needed driver from being installed permanently or being available. That is a tool I keep around for use from time to time. I am not sure what this question is asking: "By the way, I don't know how you BNF with a controller when the PID settings are unknown. Trial and error programming your controller? " 99% of bnf quads come with custom PID, likely in the cli dump you took prior to flashing but lost during flashing.The modes or arming etc can come set to a particular switch which depending on the radio setup and the receiver may be correct or may not. This is part of the typical setup. The OSD issue is likely due to the msp/displayport no longer being setup(post betaflight flashing) to deliver osd to the video transmission. Typically it takes me about 10-20 minutes to setup a new quad for flight with some pre flight bench checks. Digital/HD fpv can take a touch more if activation and/or firmware updates are required. The traditional fpv space can be a frustrating experience and can have a steep learning curve. There is a major difference from something like the cinehawk and others on my channel than something that can be bought at best buy like a dji mavic etc. I think the fpv manufacturers also use the youtube space as a method of support as many of us that make fpv content get questions from others and in turn try to help them get their drone going. This might be part of the hobbyist roots of traditional fpv. While your experience does sound frustrating and time consuming I suspect there is a large knowledge gain that will be there for future fpv endeavors.
