You know what would look lovely on the finials is if you matched the painted pattern of the feet of the piece by painting that pattern onto the nut and washer. I think it would make the shell just look magnificent with those colors at its base!
@victoriamackenzie-childs72152 жыл бұрын
Thank you Gail! That sounds like fun. It’s interesting that you spoke of that idea. There may have been a time that I would have appreciated this nuts as for their incredibly elegant shape and I would have painted them to not distract but to complete the circus. By suggesting that idea, I realized how much I have changed since living in this old ship with all the old ship repairs stacked everywhere Round is. I have begun loving this rusty old industry as if it is gold to me. I am fascinated by it, and juxtaposing it against the refinements of our earlier works, thecfactcthstvitvjoltscthe harmony and challenges the scenes, thrills me. I guess we were always like this -loving the unexpected. But now that MacKenzie-Childs IS THE EXPECTED, it makes us want to keep exploring the shocking beauty of all the dimensions of nature, industry, and art -to look for and love, without too much precondition, simply what is round us even in shocking discord with the now accepted “tradition” of MacKenzie-Childs. So, I know you weren’t thinking of it like this, but I am so very grateful for your comment, simply because you have jolted my conscious thought to align with my subconscious attraction, natural attraction to what moves me to where I have not been. I was thrilled with the unpolished old, weathered boys, in direct opposition to the Rococo Copper drawer pulls, to the smooth bubbly whimsy of the bull is Majolica feet, to the earthy rattan, to the look and feel of a hand made cotton stuffed mattress, to the surprise of the seaman’s charts lining the sm drawers showing precisely where we have landed, and finally, to the awkward, charm of a setter, which transcends to an Elizabethan bed, complete with towel rails, and pillow/blanket /linen drawers for the whole dream of a night in an imagination never yet seen, ever! Bon Nuit. So Gratefully to you CS Gail. Thank you for helping me to finish this leg of our voyage.

@@victoriamackenzie-childs7215 of course. It is nice to appreciate things just for what they are and the contrast is nice. How you change and find beauty and joy that is important. I think what drew me to your earlier work was color, but I also like the beauty of worn and loved items. I prefer an old rusted bucket or chipped enamel over a shiny new one. It almost tells a story of how it once lived😊. I think that is what makes Yankee so beautiful over a new shiny speedboat😊

And how my grandmother would draw on her arm around the tattoo with beautiful colors and fun pictures, and told her mother “ that everything is beautiful and makes you happy and smile as long at its fun colors” it was her way of taking that painful memory away from her. She also instilled that into my life as well. Whenever I’m sad or blue I dig out my paints and make happiness 😊

Wonderful and precious are His provisions for us. How wonderful to view from afar, through the thought process and placement of the shell finials. They are presently perfect. I love that thistles were original and first consideration. I have adored thistles since I was a child. My mother loved them. I think they are whimsical and wonderful, and I am always drawn to them. Now, my daughter loves them. She has a sweet little business named Thistle Cottage Home, where she hand cuts silhouettes of children, parents, and pets. What a joy and surprise to be blessed with a Richard sighting today! I just know the new owners of the P and G Settee will be thrilled with the ‘finial’ results. I’m thrilled to have joined in on Patreon. Sending love and hugs from Tennessee, Kathy

Kathy! Oh, thank you for joining Patreon! I am so happy and glad and grateful! I just can’t get over how, with only a little from each grateful soul, the promise of many shall provide for the continued work here. It feels so like a God-made design of provision. It reminds me of the Bible story in ll Kings 4: 1-7 where Elisha instructed the woman who’s husband had died and there was a debt so her two sons were to be taken as bondsmen to pay the debt but she obeyed Elisha who told her to have her sons go and borrow lots of vessels from all her neighbors. She had only a pot of oil. (Oil translates in Greek as inspiration). She slowed the door of her house (I think that means to shut out any doubting opinions) and just kept filling the vessels and filling and filling Even after they were all filled she had more oil. He then told her to sell all the oil, and to pay her debt and to live happily with her sons off the rest, forever. I loved your thistle story, and your daughters gifts. I am so inspired by knowing you this little bit more. Oh, how I hope to learn more and more. Thank you ever so much. And I am glad that the shells and nuts and washers were therein our new environ to meet the need. They aren’t thistles but they ARE sea shells! And they are happy little stand-ins😁

I always think that way having been in retail and in the food business and always wanting to be 'covered'. I DiD ! And your beautiful NOTE! I feel so bad, I hadn’t yet responded! And your beautiful note to me! Oh, and now I am even GLAD, because you reminded me that I hadn’t written back. I am making pies today, and they shall be laces this lovely earthy traces of your precious packets! I , admittedly, have become quite overcome with heavy weights of responsibility for yankee and crew of late. There is a big change coming to us almost presently. Everything has fallen every which way. I feel like I am constantly running to catch another falling object! Here is one lovely gift I can save and savor and KNOW, FINALY, that the gift knows how much I appreciate her! Thank you so much for your touch! Soon I hope to tell you all of what is going on. I know all is “falling” into place with God’s grace, as usual. Ever gratefully, Victoria Ps, I think the shells will not be a problem, as they are held into place with a coated wire and so would tip rather than jab I’d pressured. Also, the seating is very deep and the shells are above the head. Of course it is not a climbing frame for children, and one would hope a parent would have raised up their child to know to be respectful and know the difference between the playground and the parlor. But your comment gives me pause. I do think it is unusual, and pray … prayer is so much more effective as a preventative than people know. … that Divine wisdom animates us, and our children, and Divine Love armors us in His protective care. I shall think harder each time from here on out that an idea is useful AND harmless! Thank you for your kind care. Thank you for your lovely gifts! I shall think of you today, on pie day!

@victoriamackenzie-childs72152 жыл бұрын
How precious, your last note! I have been discovering something about prayer which has really opened my eyes. Often people pray to God to ask for something or to change something, or to help us. But in discovering more about God, I am realizing that God is the AllKnowing, all Wise, omnipotent, light, and that we are His rays. So we don’t need to ask God for more than He has already been, designed, perfected, just because God IS ALL OF THAT AND MORE. Why would we ask for more than we are accepting, already. It has been helping me, not to ask God! But rather to ask myself! To pray to myself, if you will. That sounds strange but really what needs to change, or adjust, or be known is all of what I just said, and it is we whom need to be quieted in prayer to be still and to know we have never been separated from God, even for a split second … as a ray of light can NEVER BE SEPARATED FROM THE SUN. So I pray with myself to trust, to know that God’s plan is complete, that His love for his creation is fulfilled and that I must accept and trust His holy plan and His perfect provision for all of His perfect rays of light. we shine because God shines, we reflect God. Jesus said, “can of mine own self do NOTHING.” I love that because it doesn’t mean he needs help to do something with God’s help, but that he can DO NOTHING, because God is ALL, the earth is as heaven, “as in Heaven, So, on EARTH,”. … God is omnipotent, supreme! Magen I realize God has given me everything, I simply need to accept it,,watch for it, and CC WAIT on Gods. I have really felt the comforter right here in every moment, never doubting.

It’s wrong to copy you and make money. You are the artists. How can they copy your work and dress and steal your home. Proctor had big money to just take off with your original ideas. I feel like someone needs to make a documentary on this when she talks it’s fake. You can feel it inside. She says she’s grateful but she has stolen what she counts as blessing.

I am so sorry..... I had no knowledge of this. I had not seen videos but thought perhaps it was that I was too busy or involved in other things to pay attention.

It’s OK, Lynda! I love hearing from you, and there is always another day to fill with unknowns, don’t you think?
