True story - I was here for 2004 Full Moon with mates. We had planned to leave early Boxing day morning to go Phi Phi. We ended up getting completely smashed on Xmas day, waking up late hungover and obviously missed our boat. Walked down to get something to eat and saw people around the TV watching the Tsunami on Phi Phi Island. Someone up there was looking down on us that day, as I would have been on that beach Boxing day morning!

I was also there at that exact same time. I have a story about it as well. I have never told anyone about what happened. I only found out a few months ago (almost 20yrs later) the very sad ending to my story. You're very lucky. Live every day as if it's your last. RIP S.

FMP won't be everyone's cup o' tea of course (I prefer a chill beach sundowner to be honest) but deffo for partiers and bucket-listers. I 'd also prefer a more chill 'Back To The Roots' version but just glad he FMP is back for those who seek it and for the locals who rely on them.

Been once in 2007 to tick it off the list. Left me with a ringing in my ears I hadn't experienced since seeing Saxon live at Sheffield City Hall when I was 15. As the party was winding down I was sat at the southern end of the beach talking to two guys I'd just met who were from the same city as me when a Thai guy (about 5'6" and in his 50's I estimate) walked by with a black plastic bag collecting rubbish off the beach. As he passed us a very large European guy threw a handful of sand at him. The Thai guy just put his bag down and walked over to the sand thrower. Then dropped him with 1 punch.

I gave the video thumbs up, but I dont like Full Moon Parties. If I was 30 years younger maybe. But, I asume it is possible to enjoy the island without going to one of those parties. Compared to Koh Samui, is there something new to see at KP or is KS good enough for a middle aged man that wants his thai food, a few beers, some live music, no disturbing people and good beaches? :)

Hi, understood, will copy/paste my response to a similar comment below: -I get the concern and yes there was a spike in cases, also in many other places around Thailand (globally too). Thailand is prob behind in testing but this is from Singapore news today:"Singapore has recorded 85,357 cases over the last 28 days, but 99.7% of them had no or mild symptoms". Thailand and most of the world are now seeing similar results and far fewer serious outcomes thankfully. Thus, this may reach endemic status fairly soon, fingers crossed. (btw personally tested neg a few days after and was fully vaxxed to lessen any outcome).

Full moon party happens monthly each full moon. Many other party spots too, plus half moon parties etc etc (my fav tho, just chillin on a quiet beach ;) PS: spend? Generally i keep to a budget of around 1000-2000 baht/day ($30-$60) Everyone's mileage will vary of course. STL
