Was in Bukitlawang in 1999 and again after the flooding that wiped out most of it.

You were fortunate to see it pre-flood. My father tells me it was even more special then.

Job2Do - I was in Khanom beach just before Christmas, absolutely loved it there, almost no tourists and I found "the bar with no name". Will be going back and exploring the area on a much longer trip.

Yep, it's truly a hidden gem, in plain sight, much to explore around too. enjoy!

This yellow little car is Polish Fiat 126 which motorized Poland in the 70s. People used to travel on this car from Poland to Greece and Bulgaria in the 70s. I wonder what it is doing in Vancouver.

I love to see that there are beaches still untouched by greedy investors and corporations but sadly I know that showing these places on the internet will bring an abundance of awareness and then it will be only a matter of time for people to flock there and ruin it.

The Thai Govt is pouring billions into this area, from the recent coast rd and planned bridge from Samui to Khanom, to greatly increased tourism initiatives. Thus, my few vids are but a drop on the overall bucket but yes, adds a few more feet on the ground so guilty as charged.

I spent a few days there in a resort on the outskirts may ( Sheraton ) in 2007. It looks like it’s changed tremendously. I just remember a few bars and restaurants, small narrow streets with a high Scandinavian expat scene.

Good advice on kicking the tires. I finally pulled the trigger and bought a airplane ticket. I’m in KL Malaysia right now going to be here for Chinese New Year’s moving on in several days over to the Philippines to kick some more tires then up to Thailand and Cambodia back into Thailand and then back home total of five months! Retirement is sweet!!!
