For those that don't have the Blazer knuckles, Summit does have the BellTech drop knuckles for the 98 -05 Blazer available. That would give the capability of the dual piston caliper, bigger rotor, and bigger brake pads on a 2" drop for the front end. Obviously you would need the Blazer backing plates, hub bearing unit, and appropriate brake lines. Throw in tubular control arms and it would make for an outstanding looking front suspension. Just a thought ...

@@dtperformance256 what I'm currently trying to do is swap my stock 7.5 rear end to a Ford 8.8 rear end out of an explorer. I've been told by many people that it's a great cheap upgrade but they don't really say how to go about it. I have the 8.8 ready to go but the only thing I'm worried about is if I'm going to need anything else or if any modifications will have to be done.

Whenni did my blazer brake swap I used stock brake hoses but bent the truck brake line brackets to resemble the blazer brake line brackets. Id recommended getting the brackets from a Blazer when you get the knuckles.
@dtperformance25610 ай бұрын
@shadymaint1 you are 100% correct. When I first did this I had not seen anyone do this on a first gen so I didn’t get the blazer brake line bracket. After looking into it I went back to the junkyard and got those brackets and plan to do the same thing you did. I will bend my brake lines to look like the blazer and everything will fit much better. Thanks for watching and the comment!

Get tge rear end from the same Blazer. Or all the brake hardware. Blazers have a larger front swaybar. ZQ8 package even larger. Pickup with ZQ8 package have rear swaybar and or Anti- hopshock

@dtperformance2564 ай бұрын
@Mike-lc4gn No it didn’t change, the only issue I had was with a Weld Pro Star, the wheel rubbed slightly so I lengthened the studs and added a 1/4” spacer. Not sure why, everyone else told me they didn’t have any issues but they were using different wheels on the front. I show this on the follow up video to this one. Thanks for watching and commenting and good luck with your build . I hope this helped you out.

Another follow up question, do you need a new master cylinder etc?
@dtperformance256 Жыл бұрын
You do not need a new master cylinder. If you don’t plan on racing where you would see your front wheels lifting up, you do not even have to change the brake lines. Your stock brake lines will work just fine.

Will later model S10 brakes, spindles, calipers, from a 4x4 fit on a first gen 4x4? I know the early spindles won't accept later calipers, but if the spindle will swap, I can do it

@@dtperformance256 I've got a 92 4x4 ext cab, 5spd, that I've installed a 5.7 SBC. Braking is horrible. There aren't any good upgrades with the spindles from the factory because of the "ears" that keep the calipers in position. Later versions (blazers especially) use a much larger brake rotor and 2piston calipers. If the spindles swap, that's half the battle. Blazers, especially the ls models, also have upgradeable disc brake rear axles, with larger axle shafts.

Can I just buy a bellwether drop spindle for a 01 blazer. And get junkyard 01 knuckle and install it as a drop it in my 89 s10 blazer 2wd?
@dtperformance256 Жыл бұрын
The knuckle is the spindle. A Blazer does not have a shaft sticking out like an S10 truck. You get a Blazer hub and it takes a bearing assembly like newer vehicles today. I hope this answers your question.
@damnitdang Жыл бұрын
@DTPerformance I looked on the site. A belltech drop spindle for a 2wd 2001 blazer. And just buy the wheel bearing with the 3 bolts. And buy calipers, rotors and pads for that year blazer. Plus dust cover right
@dtperformance256 Жыл бұрын
That is correct. If you buy the Belltech drop spindles, you can get the bearings, calipers, and rotors at the part store and all you would need would be the dust shields or if you go to eBay you can buy the spacers that replace the dust shields. Just do not try to run the assemblies without the dust shield or spacer because the dust sheild is a spacer that allows some wheels to clear the rotor. But what you said is 100% correct!!
@템바로10 ай бұрын
Is it compatible with the existing s10 knuckle?
@dtperformance25610 ай бұрын
@user-wf4gp1pc2v you have to change the entire assembly. The Blazer has a hub assembly instead of a spindle and rotor with bearing like the S10.
@xerionis45762 жыл бұрын
does the spindle from the blazer bolt the s10 knuckle or do you need the knuckle as well
@dtperformance2562 жыл бұрын
You will need the knuckle. The S10 has a spindle with bearings and the Blazer has a bearing assembly. It is easier just to get the complete Blazer assembly from the junkyard. That way you get the bolts and the dust shield with it.

@bobbyfelker7921 Жыл бұрын
Do I have to change the spindle also?
@dtperformance256 Жыл бұрын
@Bobby Felker. Yes. You will need the complete Blazer brake assembly. You will need the Blazer hub (spindle), the caliper, dust shield, brake lines (if you are not using new), and the bearing assembly. You don’t have to have the dust shield, but you will need a set of the metal shims that can be purchased on eBay ($6) if you don’t install the dust shield. This spaces the brake bracket out so the wheel does not contact the brake bracket. If you get the entire assembly it is much easier instead of piecing parts together. I chose to install the dust shield. Thanks for watching and the question. Let me know if you need anything else!

Could I use all the brake system from the 2001 S10 4x4 (front and rear) on the 1987 S15 4x4?
@dtperformance256 Жыл бұрын
@Hery Román I would think as long as they were both 4x4 truck you can, but I know for sure a 4x4 front hub will not fit on a 2 wheel drive to do the conversion you see in the video.
@CGphotoOp Жыл бұрын
Awesome conversion. More stopping power is always a good thing. So if you can’t do lowering spindles to drop the ride height, how do you lower it with this brake setup?
@dtperformance256 Жыл бұрын
You can do Blazer lowering spindles(hub). You have to use Blazer lowering spindles(hubs) with this set up to get the wheel bearing assemblies and the dual pistion calipers. If you have truck S10 lowering spindles already and you change to the Blazer set up, they are different spindles between the Blazer and S10 truck so you will have to change to Blazer lowering spinldes to keep it lowered. The down side is that if you have S10 truck lowering spindles and you go to the stock Blazer spindle(hub) you will not be lowered with the stock Blazer spindle (hubs). The Blazer is more of a hub than a spindle because it uses a bearing assembly instead of a spindle shaft that you have to use the bearing and rotor combination like on the S10 truck. I know this is long but I hope it makes sense. Thanks for watching and the comments!!

@@dtperformance256 got it. I’m going to look into this swap. I think the added weight is well worth better stopping power. Unrelated question: I replaced all my turn signals and marker lights with LEDs and now my rear turn lights blink super slow and my front turn signals don’t blink at all but they both stay lit up in my dash. I specifically purchased LEDs from Lasfit with built in Canbus resistors to avoid hyperflashing but it seems I have the opposite problem. Any tips?
