i built my nekroz deck for 150 dollars. i was working Friday the 13th. i had walked past the section in walmart where we sell cards. i saw a booster pack that made me do a double take. i saw trishula on the cover. i bought all 24 packs that day and pull hella nekroz. 2 armor 3 solas. 3 catas1 valkyrus n gungnir 3 unicore and last pack was the one trishula. then i went to another walmart and bought 6 more packs and pulled a brionac.

it works like this: valkyrus can end your battle phase immediately after negate one atk, so if you're in for an OTK, and you start your 1st atk, opponent (in here it would be mirror match) chained Valkyrus to negate that atk then end the battle phase, you chained offering (since it's a quickplay), destroy your own attacking monster, since there is no longer an atk target, valkyrus effect did not resolve and there for it was wasted in the graveyard, and you can continue to atk with the rest of your monster, it would probably stop the OTK, but still you get to deal a ton of damage to the opp, and he lost a valkyrus for nothing

Can someone explain why he only plays 2 Valkyrus? I've seen that 3 is usually the staple number. Especially if you need to stay alive.

Drawing a hand full of boss monsters with no plays happens with the more boss monsters you run. Although Valkyrus has an amazing ability in-hand to end the Battle Phase, I only wanted two because drawing three means I can't play Yu-Gi-Oh and if I ever need it again, I can always discard Unicore to add it back (looping Valkyrus). This means I can play with more consistent hands than my opponent. Another play that I frequently went into was Daigusto Emeral to shuffle all my Unicores back into deck, in order to discard and add Valkyrus back to my hand. As well, I'm usually the one applying pressure on my opponents and tried not to prolong the game by playing around my opponent's Valkyrus.

Erik Martinez Thanks! Yea, I did play 40 cards in the Main Deck, just to keep it consistent. Although a lot of people played 40+ cards this past weekend because the deck does a lot of searching and having more options is good, you can draw parallels with the Mermail deck from a few formats ago. The deck can play so many cards that over 40 is viable but those who stick to 40 and only play the best cards will always come out on top. The best combos are the different combinations of OTKs (quite a few to memorize), the Valkyrus combo I discussed in the video (you can do this after Turn 1 too to fix your hand), and the Level 12 Unicore + Valkyrus drop, followed by a Rank 4 with Manju/Senju.

!DarkFusionMagician! If this format is dominated by Nekroz, it will become quite like the old Dragon Ruler formats where we have to think of new techs every week, and hope to stay ahead of the game. I already have a testing group now and we're trying out new cards. One of my friends is going to another Regionals on Sunday so I can't reveal their techs yet but hopefully he'll win and he can share it in a deck profile. I've already made a few changes to the deck :) Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon has been dropped, Nekroz of Gungnir has been in and out all week

Looping Valkyrus just means you add it back with Unicore or search another one with Brionac. It means you can keep ending Battle Phases and stall until you draw the right cards.

"I used this once... it was ok." "Castel is probably the best xyz-" I'm with Jerry on this one. I don't really like using Castel at all. Not because it's expensive, or because it's a meta card and I'm a "meta-hating scrublord", it's just that I think there are plenty of better generic rank fours than Castel. Saying it's "the best" is quite ridiculous, as well as being a huge overstatement. Heck, even Silent Honor Ark is a better rank four than Castel! Castel's bounce effect can only be used once, whilst 101 can steal a SS monster, and still not be destroyed because that monster is its new material. Way better deal than using Castel imo.

The joke is that if I ran Number 101, I probably would've lost one less game to the Nekroz mirror match. I summoned a Castel and it got Book of Eclipse'd. He top decked Raigeki and wrecked my field and attacked for last little bit of damage. If it was a Number 101 instead, it would've lived through Raigeki and I would've won. But I'm still not entirely sure I want to run 101 in the Extra Deck because there's no room. Castel can't be taken out because it also outs floodgates.
