I remember Ferlin Husky sing this on the radio. "Wings of a Dove" was sung by many, including in our church. Gospel music. He sang "Phanton 309" and "There Goes My Everything" also on the radio then. TV reception was poor then, so the AM radio was more entertainment. We would listen to the Louisiana Hayride and Grand Ole Opry for hours.

I can remember Charley Pride singing this song, I've never heard of Ferlin Husky, but this version is really nice. It's such a simple easy song to listen to - and I do love country music too!

It is a toe tapper isn't it, Kim. Ferlin was not the irginal singer but he made it popular in 1960🤩

As Carl pointed out this appeared in Tender Mercies but it was slowed down and i really liked that version Covered by many but i know it by Nancy Griffith who i am a big fan of especially her version of From a Distance I never heard Ferlin Husky version until now but i was aware of him because Bob Dylan has spoken of him Dylan is a musicologists and especially interested in early americana , blues and country and like Billy Joe Shavers , Carly Patton , Blind Willie McTell Dylan will name drop artists he admires to shine light on them

I love that Bob does that, Jesse! Shining a light on artists that you admire even when you are mega famous like he is...good on Bob. I know a couple of Nancy's songs...she is very good 🤩

Easily one of the top 100 songs with more than few excellent covers by other artists. Even a abbreviated version by the actor Robert Duvall in the movie Tender Mercies (1983).
