I saw him in concert when I was 10 years old back in 1987, we are both from Wales. He is still making music today having released an album just over a year ago. His biggest hit in the USA was "Cry just a little bit" which only got to number 67 in the billboard charts. His other hits include "Give me your heart tonight", "A love worth waiting for", "This Ole House", "Green Door" and "Breaking up my Heart".

Shaky was the UKs biggest selling singles artist of the 1980’s. Between 1980 - 1990, he notched up 33 top 30 hit singles, He was also very popular in other European countries too, where he also had many hit singles and albums!, Top Of the pops was a UK chart shows playing the top chart hits. Shaky was noted as one of the only artists to appear on the show over 50 times, This song - You Drive Me Crazy was released in April 1981 and peaked at number 2 in the UK, If you enjoy shaky’s music. he was massive, hes rock n roll, he played elvis in a stage show, the crowd are form a pop music show, but shakin stevens is a rocker, he was always alot fo fun on chat shows

Shaky (as he is called by his fans) was the first artist in Germany to have 4 hits in the charts at the same time, in Sweden he was the first foreign artist to receive a double platinum record. His records have been covered by many artists, even in the US. Barry Manilow had a US top 30 hit with Shaky's self penned "Oh Julie" in 1982. And country singer Eddy Raven scored a #1 hit in the country charts with "In A Letter To You" during the late 1980s. Shaky's success wasn't limited to the UK only. He had lots of success throughout Europe, even in the former East Block countries and toured there a number of times when it wasn't that common for western singers to perform there. His ballad "Because I Love You" was huge in Eastern Asia where it went to #1 in lots of countries and has loads and loads of cover versions. As for North America, he once received a golden disc for a compilation in Canada in the mid 1980s. And "I Cry Just A Little Bit" was a minor in the US, got to #63 or #67 in the Billboard charts in 1984.

Thanks for another blast from my past Sue. I have always enjoyed his revival of the 50's sound during the disco era of the 80's, probably why he wasn't big in the States. I was more inclined to dance to rock and roll than disco. Another popular song of his was "The Green Door".

Shakin' Stevens had a number of hits here in Oz, and a number of them came up regularly when I went out rock 'n' roll dancing .. They were pretty much basic feelgood pop / rockabilly tunes, and were mostly quite catchy .. My clear favourite of his is "Cry Just A Little Bit", a smooth romantic, upbeat number that'll surely have you tapping your feet along with it.

Hi Sue, Shakin Stevens had a very long career in the UK, singing old style, fun, rock n roll records like this. He is still recording & performing.He did a great Elvis performance in a stage musical before he had hits.

Shaky was one of those artists that the critics and serious people dismissed .... but he just kept churning out hit after hit, the people loved him !....... 33 top 40 singles and his Merry Christmas Everyone is played loads every Christmas

Not to be mean but ….. Shakin Stevens was consider a bit of a joke but racked hit after hit (. Over 30 of them ) he outsold everyone in UK in the 80s Sorta like Alvin Stardust ( check out My Coo Ca Choo ) Pretty lowbrow stuff but this the stuff you wanted when your out at night Im not sure if you ever watch the british version of The Office bit if you did you could imagine Rick Gervais character dancing to this

It’s kind of a contradiction to say the guy was a bit of a joke obviously not to a lot of people due to the amount of hit singles he had and the amount of records he sold. He was only considered a bit of a joke to critics and what did they know?
