its still crazy to me to see people who don't know SHINee, not in a bad way, its just so surprising. but yes, the group is still together and they recently met up after some of the members came back from being enlisted! if you end up checking out more SHINee, you should check out taemin, the long-haired boy you mentioned earlier in the video. he has an incredible solo discography and recently had two comebacks; criminal and idea!

One of my favorite songs written by jonghyun is EXOs Play Boy. Suho (from EXO) was trained with and supposed to have debuted with Shinee, but an injury kept him out and he ended up as EXO’s leader. Min Ho doesn’t get a lot of visual time but for me, he’s the most gorgeous of the Kpop idols. And is so athletic! On sports day, he wins everything: high jump, hurdles, swim, high dive, gladiator/ninja obstacle course, he’s awesome. He’s also been in movies such as Hwarong, playing the hottie. He just finished his military service (receiving a special commendation, of course) and I think the other three are of service age, so the group is dormant right now.

I'm glad you gave SHINee a listen despite what happened. We shouldnt be walking on eggshells but instead enjoying their music. They are still around and making music together btw! All the members are finally back together after 3 of them came back from their military service. As for the guy in the long hair in Lucifer, that's Taemin and he just came out with his mv IDEA last week. You should give him a listen, you won't regret. The next is: *Jonghyun* he was the main vocalist of SHINee, his nickname was "Bling Bling" , basically he shined. He was not only a signer, but song writer, producer, author, radio host. He was a Women rights and LGTBIQ supporter, and did not cared about the hate he recived for it (Korea a very conservative society). He wrote like 40% of SHINee song, several song for other artist like Taemin, EXO, LEE HI, and IU. He had a strong character, very savage, he most of the time was a mood maker and talked the most on interviews and most of the time was confused as leader, that basically make him became Onew right hand when it comes to lead. Onew always said he could not do it with out jonghyun, but Jjong always said Onew could do anything with out him just fine! He was very sensitive as well, and cried a a lot in concerts. He had a radio show called "BLUE NIGHT", he talked alot about several things, including his depression (I will just talk about what he said), He said he had seasonal depression , and winter was difficult for him. He also talked that he had a difficult childhood and intentionally tried to get rid of all the photos and memories of it, have economic problems, his father did not supported his dream of becoming a singer, and he was ambidexter (he could use both left and right hand very well) cuz the moment his father notice he was left handed basically forced him to use the right hand. In the end he was just not close to his father, to the point that his members (Onew, key, minho and Taemin) became head mourners of his funeral as males( head of the family) representatives of the family, and they took care of everyting related to the funeral rituals. But loved his mom and sister very much. He was #1 Taemin supporter, and called himseft "Taemint fan club president", he helpped Taemin with his vocals and gave him some of his songs (well Taemin nagged him for it ), he once postponed his own concert in korea to attend Taemin first solo concert in japan. He was scared of Key birthday because Ke always make him buy expensive presents and even created a song about it ,Lol. Minho and him had a "Tom and jerry" relationship they were always funny together, but Minho was always there for him,...even when he did not expected it. He loved his members as well and have said that the only way he EVER be seprated from them is being physically apart forever. Trust me, there is NOTHING ridiculous about SHINee! Seriously, MinHo kicks A**, Taemin is a GOD!! Jonghyun is a legend, Key made them all swoon, and JinKi does everything! SHINee set the bar! If you're looking into KPop music as more than just a thirst quench, give a look at the arc of SHINee. Yes the group is still together. They’re not as active the past few years because most of the members were doing their military service. Though they’re all currently back (except Taemin who has yet to serve) so we might hear from them soon. Ring a Ding Dong is such an earworm, it just gets stuck in your head so it got really popular. Schools had to ban it during exam time. The girl in Replay is Victoria from F(X), another one of SM Entertainment’s groups.

Replay is their debut song in 2008, with their ages between 14-18 years old then. And yes until now they are still together. They were in a hiatus for around 2yrs due to military service of the 3 members but they are back together now. Hope you can check out more of them especially the concert stages. Yeah in the earlier days and also 2nd gen kpop autotune was really popular and used heavily. Also please don't use the publishing date on KZbin. A lot of the old sm videos are way older. @@Metalstryk3 not really. They had a 10th year album shortly after Jjong passing, because they want to be with shawols during this hard time. It's a truly gem and heavily emotional. All songs are amazing. And, after Minho discharge last week, they did a live to tell us that they are already preparing a comeback to next year, so we are waiting a tour before Taemin enlistment (only in 2022).

Thank you for also checking in on us with Jonghyun's passing. I can't speak for all Shawols but to this day especially in December there isn't one day where I don't think about Jonghyun or get teary eye if I see a picture/video or song from him. It got to a point where I couldn't listen to Jonghyun's/Shinee's song's without crying and I had to remove them to my music playlists. Jonghyun wrote a beautiful song for Lee Hi called “breathe”. She said she wanted to sing a song about breathing as she was having difficulty with that due to her anxiety. Jonghyun gifted the song to her and it became a hit. It’s very beautiful and emotional song - you should react to it. The next is: *KEY* , His name suposed to mean that he can open any door (in the industry), he is called "Almighty" as well since he basically can do anything, they call him triple treats for it (can sing, dance, rap... and let add that he can act as well). He is a vocalist, lead rapper and lead dancer. He is the one that speak the best english, as well as japanese. He is a fashionista, fashion designer(designed/styled most of the concert outfits), content producer, song writer , actor and editor. He was raised by his grandmother , and he loved her soo much! , it was really heartbreaking when she passed away. He also knowns how to cook well, he even had a cooking show. He have a very particular personality. He and the members admitted that he used to be more selfish when he was younger, but he had became more considerate with time. He is very sassy, savage, straight foward, he will say exactly what he thinks, he does not like to sugar coat anything. And does not like other tell him what to do but some how he does as Onew said, he like to act cute with Onew, that usually buy him what he wants. Some times fans call him "Onew princess" LOLLL. He is also sensitive and can cry easily. When they were aprendiz he had a big fight with Minho since he told him to wash the dishes, but Key refused to. The fight got bigger since Minho could not understad Key since he speaked satori (korean dialect) they did not fix things till they debuted. They are basically the definition of "Oposite atrack each other".He have said that Minho is his best friend and when he have something that really bothers him he just wait till he see Minho and talk about it with him, he said that Minho dont give advice but simple listen to his worries and always said he will support whatever he decide. Also once they had a party in Key house, he just fall a sleep and Minho cleaned his house and left a note on his table saying "Kibum(his real name) I love you" , and he keep saying how sweet Minho is. They also always join force to tease and/or scold Taemin , lol. He also said in his last show (cooking show) that Minho was so important in his life that he dont think they can ever be apart. He took care of Taemin with the basics, when they just debuted, and Taemin had learnt alot of things from him (good and bad), so part of Taemin savage personality, and no filter comments comes from him, he have said he regret part of the things he teached Taemin, Lol since now he is using it against him. For him Jonghyun was his soulmate ( they understood each other very well and were great friend since day1). He has had some issues as well and admitted that when he was younger he used to cut himselft, but he passed that part of his life long time ago. It´s always funny and heart warming at the same time seeing people react to old shinee songs for the first time... I hope you check out more and dive in deeper, because they are vocally very bold, especcially the album 1 of 1 comes to mind. Shinee not a common kpop sound while at the same time is a standard. I feel like the shinee sound is a combination of retro + something modern and trend setting that is ahead of its time. Which creates an interesting dynamic and while its not for everyone, if you really listen to it you won´t be able to stop. It´s unique.

And last but not least: *Taemin* He is the youngest, and the baby. He have being very spoiled for YEARS by his members, he is the main dancer, lead vocalist, and had participated in writting songs as well. He have no filter when it comes to talk about his members, and always have to be warned by his member not to swear in public ,since it seems he does it a lot. He is called "Magic hands" cuz he lose or broke things most of the time, they keep him OUT of the kitchen, since he does not know how to cook and with his magic hands anything could happen. When he was younger and still in middle school his member used to take turns to take him to school, when he debuted he had to change from school to a special one since he was being harrased and bullied. Their debut song did not had his voice cuz he was still too young and his vocal cords eere not matured, he was called tone deaf. I remember how he used to look at Onew and jonghyun singing so amazed, it was soo cute back then!! Onew and jonghyun gave him vocals lessons and he worked so hard ,he even had nose bleed when he worked for hours in his vocals. Now he is one of the most repected Kpop idols and a lot of new idols have him as inspiration. He NEVER talked about his emotions before , till jonghyun passed away, and he recived psicological help, he have started to speak more about his feelings .... and relay a lot in to his faith ( he is a catholic christian) and music. He LOVES Onew to the core, he repect him so much, but as well use him some times , lol. He have said that if he have to get money urgent he would ask Onew since he would never ask him to repay him. He usually like to tease his members ,but usually never take it against Onew. He admired jonghyun a lot, for him was the best singer. YES! I've recommended SHINee 2 or 3 times so I've never clicked on a notification so fast. SHINee are so iconic that Obama once mentionned them in a speech! Vocally they're on a whole other level. If you want to check out more songs by them, I'd suggest Sherlock, View and maybe 1 of 1. All different in terms of sound but all bops. You should also check out some live performances. No idea if you'll see this comment but I'm just gonna go off with some bits of SHINee info: - They debuted in 25th May 2008 with Replay (Noona Neomu Yeppeo/Noona You're So Pretty). The members were ages 14 - 17 y/o at the time. Babies. They did consider disbanding after Jonghyun had passed away, and it was completely understandable too, it must've been so hard for them. But along with Jonghyun's mother's encouragement, they ultimately decided to remain together. They've been together for 12 years now. - SHINee are known to be trendsetters, and they haven't stopped setting trends till this day. - SHINee members are Onew, Jonghyun, Key, Minho and Taemin, listed in order of oldest to youngest. The one you liked in Ring Ding Dong was Onew, the one you liked in Lucifer was Taemin, and the one you liked in Reply was Key. The one who's vocals you pointed out is Jonghyun, who's no longer with us. He is admired by many and considered to be one of the best artists in all of korea. - You've reacted to SuperM, I think. Taemin is a part of SuperM as well as SHINee. He's friends with EXO's Kai and has been for a LONG time. Taemin also debuted like 4 times (with SHINee, SM unit group YOUNIQUE, solo debut, and finally with SuperM). He's said to be the korean Micheal Jackson. - All members are HELLA talented. They have SO many songs and have tried almost everything from what I've seen. They've stayed relevant throughout all the years they've been active. There's sooo much content that there's always something for everyone, and even non-shawols like and respect SHINee. Their live performances are also quite legendary. They were one of the first kpop groups to completely sell out the Tokyo Dome concerts from what I know. SHINee, absolute legends. I've been a fan since they debuted with Replay in 2008, and have adored them entirely all the way through. And yes they're still together! A group of forever five. In fact, as many have said in the comments, they've just been reunited after 3 members have been away for their army enlistment. It's been over 2 years! It's the perfect time to get into SHINee, as they've already teased that they'll be having a comeback pretty soon. Not only are they musically & conceptually amazing, (VOCALS) but, they're a group that has one of the most special bonds of any k-pop group I've seen. They're truly a family, and you can see that in everything they do. It's part of the reason they make such awesome music together (that and of course they're all extremely talented). Anyway, I obviously, would recommend going on a SHINee journey. They have SO MUCH music, of so many different styles and genre's, to get stuck into. You won't be disappointed.

OMG SHINee!! , so happy!, I hope you keep reacting to them, they are wonderful , not only as artist but as people, as well. The members really do have different personalities, and they together are a MESS but they cant help but love each other so much. Let me talk about each member a little (in separated comments so it does not look saturated): - *Onew* is the leader, his name means "Soft" "Gently", and was given because of his personlaity. His nickname is "dubu leader" , dubu is Tofu, and is soft, so is like saying "Our soft leader", other nickname given by his members is "Old man", cuz he really act like one. He is also very clumsy, and people used to call it "Onew condition (sagtae)" He is a great vocalist, he was SHINee lead vocalist for 10 years, and now is the Main vocalist, because of what happened. He have a very gently personality, that people always believed that he was the younguest and Jonghyun was the leader but that was not the case. According to his member he have a very strong but gently leadership and adjust himselft to each member personality , they love him and respect him very much. Jonghyun one said in a show that if you want to bully some one bully him instead, and not Onew, because Onew have a very fragil heart. Also Key have said he did not expected to debut with Onew in the same group, because Onew never danced before, was most of the time silent, and the industry is to rought for nice people like him (he was right... the industry have being...just bad to him). Minho have said that he is not the type of leader that put himself above others but he put himself in the middle, and make them stronger. Onew was Taemin first vocal coach, and ALWAYS defend Taemin no matter what, even against the other members, he is just his baby. And ususally get what he wants from Onew. There some info that he suffers from depression as well, and what happened to jonghyun really hit him so hard. He really needed help. In their 10 anniversary promotions Key mentioned that he need to eat and gain weight again, as well as sleep more and stop worrying so much. So is clear from Key comments thay Onew was still suffering really bad during their promotions. It always remind me on a live they did reponding to fans questions there was a fan that said "Onew till when you will keep being this pretty", and the member just stsrted going all loud "ohhhhhhh" , they keep trying to make him happy. He did said he had troubles crying for jonghyun before reciving psycological help, cuz he felt guilty. ONEW is very intelligent, he was one top student, and his joke and comments are some times difficult to understand, jonghyun was usually the one that understood him the most and knew exactly what he was refering to most of the time. Now he have said that he started to reading more again, and he is searching for the meaning of life. He also became a Christian acouple of years ago,(he was not before) and said that he had find strength from it. He have gone through a lot... he nearly lost his voice and had to recieve surgery in his vocal cords, he was very scared and after it he could not speak for like a month...and was not sure if he would be abbly to sing againg, thank God the surgery went well and he can sing even better than before. Here's some fun facts: They were the BLUEPRINT for many things that make up Kpop TODAY such as how Lucifer's choreography inspired and motivated following Kpop groups to take their dancing even more seriously (or I should say choreographies became even harder 😩), and the choreography to SHINee's Sherlock was the MOST EXPENSIVE at the time and it became national news. Taemin (the youngest member as you can see with the long hair in Lucifer) used to be the YOUNGEST kpop idol to debut (in a group as BoA, a legend in SM, debuted around 12 years old in the 90s) in the industry and is deemed as Korea's Michael Jackson (who's his idol). A lot of idols even now admire SHINee, become diehard fans and even worship Taemin (which you'll probably realize why as soon as you check his solo stuff soon). Can't wait for more!

Also brings me back to when I first heard of them, because I was introduced to them and kpop around their View era, so I remember going back and just that total shock lolol. I hope you continue to check out Shinee's newer music and solo works as well. I know you mentioned that you're aware of the passing of a member, I'd also just like to say as a huge fan of Jonghyun I do think it would be incredible to see more reactions of his work. Next is: *Minho*, his nickname is "flaming charisma" or "Frog prince" , because of his look and his cheesy lines (he some times really speak like a movie hero). He is the rapper, dancer and vocalist in the group. He had also participated in song writting and usual write his own raps. He is an actor as well and had participated in a lot of dramas and also in movies. He is extreamly competitive and always want to win. His father is a famous soccer (football) manager in korea, so Minho is very in to sports like soccer ,basketball , swimming and he is good at all of them. He really like any physical activities, and work out in the gym mostly everyday (according to the members). When they debuted to was mostly silent cuz he was shy, however with time he showed his real personality and he is very LOUD. He is a stweet heart, be support ALL the members activities and always make time to be with them in whatever they are doing. He call himself a SHAWOL (SHINee fan) as well. He is the emotional backbone of the group, and the "glue" he never shows his emotions most of the time and always tried to be the "ROCK" for the other members in emotional breakdowns. He is like a big brother to Taemin and scold him a lot, he had became best friend with Key and he is always the first one to notice when something is going wrong with him also it seems he have access to his house (knows the password), and have being seen severals times taking care of Key dogs. He always had an eye on Onew and lived with him for 11 years, till Onew enlisted. He used to biker with jonghyun a lot, since he was tall and jjong was really small and make fun of it, LOL. But they just liked to play with each other ,and Minho was his #1 fan not only as singer but as radio host, he listened, called and even went to the radio station several times as surprise even in his last show . It was said that he was the first one to get to the hospital when he got the news... Since he is the strongest emotionally speaking he was the lead in the funeral procession. He also is GREAT with kids, he really love them. And have said that he want to grow old as SHINee. If you want to check some of their comebacks I really love, I highly suggest Everybody, View, Married to the Music, and Countless! Regarding the member that passed away: His name Jongyun. We as a fandom operate acknowledging he's gone, but we talk about him in the present tense as if he is still alive. Jonghyun regarded as one of the best vocalists in kpop. Also, as much as we miss him, we try to focus on all the amazing things he did and accomplished, as we don't want his death to be the only thing that defines him or that he's known for, as he is an absolutely incredible human who did a lot. Replay is one of the greatest debut songs of all time. They are still very much together, but have been on hiatus as a group due to military service. Only Taemin, who’s the baby, hasn’t enlisted yet. They are iconic in kpop and yes, they are still together: 3 of the members just got discarged from military so in the last years they didn’t release music as a group, but everyone remembers them very well as they still remain relevant to this day. SM groups are always about quality and they are a family as they grow up together. And yes, EXO were/are SHINee fans. They are also SHINee’s friends. Suho (EXO’s leader) was actually supposed to debut with SHINee and trained with them as a member, but few days before the debut he had a very bad accident and injured his leg badly so he couldn’t make it. He is/was especially close to Minho (they also went to the same university) and Jonghyun (this is also why Suho chose to sing one of the song written by Jonghyun as his solo stage in EXO’s concert). And Kai and Teamin are famous bestfriends since days school (i’ve seen many exols through the years say that EXO are Kai’s brothers but Taemin is his soulmate xD) and they are always together. To the point that everyone (their managers, fans, gossip newspapers, seriously everyone) at one point has thought they were truly dating. It's so funny how you started with Ring Ding Dong bop and yeah I can get that maybe nowadays this song may seem too repetitive, but back then it was huuuge hit, I mean every OG kpop stan knows it even if they're not Shinee fans because if you hear it once it will always stay in your brain ahaha SHINee actually regarded as princes of kpop and I'd say they're Vocal Kings of 2nd generation, all members are super talented and made their own names in the industry, there's literally no idol artist who wouldn't know about SHINee and their influence on kpop. They're also often regarded as trendsetters of having a difficult choreography in performances ahahah Besides, they're the group who really experimented and still does with various music genres and they actually introduced to kpop industry many genres eg house music, (yeah, they still do both solo and group music with 4 members). The fashion and some songs were ridiculous and iconic at the same time!! (ofc there were also simply beautiful songs etc like in every era) The productions might have leved up a lot today.. but I always miss the more "raw" days.. now most things feel too polished and so heavily manufactured! (that's why there are only few groups that catch my eye nowadays.. eg Mamamoo

I agree, (insert a grandma voice) ~ in my time , we had sooo much fun~. "Ring ding dong" and "Sorry, Sorry" of Super Junior were the two song all kpop fan knew the dance and will dance even if they weren't in the fandom. As an OG Kpop fan, I feel blessed that I went to the SM town in Paris and could see F(x)'s Sulli and Jonghyun perform live. The three songs you react to, remind me of this moment, of the public (including me) dancing to Ring ding dong. Fun fact, Shinee's "Ring ding dong" album was my first kpop album. I really love "JoJo" and I still listen to it nowadays like most of the old kpop. "Lucifer" is really fun for me because of my auditive halucination in the chorus. I keep hearing "rockin' chair" ^^. Even if I really like their old songs, I think the song I relate the most is "Our page", maybe because I lost my father to suicide...but even if I can't listen to the song without crying, its a really beautiful tribute to Jonghyun.

Maybe it's just because I was born a 98 year old woman but I've been listening to kpop since 2006 and even when Ring Ding Dong first came out I had a very similar reaction. Now, yes, I do appreciate it for the silly piece of linguistic debauchery that it is but would I recommend it to anybody as their first SHINee song? No. No I would not. xD But honestly, you really embraced it for what it is and remained very positive to the song and which just shows that you approach these reactions, especially to the older stuff, with a great attitude. Lucifer is still one of my favourite songs by them, the addition to the chorus from the second verse onward really drives up the energy and not only does it make the song more powerful and invigorating, the vocals from Onew are also just fantastic to listen to.
