Been there, done that, and bought the t-shirt. Yup, it works.😁 Now for the fun part...Take your whole 980 cooler apart, and give heat-pipe/fins section an IPA bath. Clean and repaste GPU. Remember: Less is more. Extra thermal paste will only squish out over the sides. While you have fans out, carefully clean blades with IPA on cotton swabs. Ok, reassemble everything. If you don't know how, just watch a KZbin video. Kudos! Your GPU temps should be back down to normal, as if the card was new. Please, assume the Party Escort Submission Position, and enjoy your cake.🎂

I clean coolers and fans with a vacuum that has a brush on it. It’s very convenient and works great. IPA is only necessary for dirt that isn’t just dust.

This is crazy that I found your videos . I been working on my project for some time now . Maybe I’ll post some videos . I been looking to build me a PC just like yours . My game plan was to make one computer where I can run Windows XP up to windows 11 using the MSI TPM module on my MSI krait Z97. I bought a cheap PC that had a 4790K 16GB and that MSI Krait board that has Windows XP drivers on their site . The board has a m.2 Gen 2 PCIe slot which I’ll use for Windows 10/11z Then I’ll use the other PCIe to boot off Sata m.2 drives to keep my system as clutter free as possible . I’ll have a win xp, win7 or vista unsure yet. There’s tons of games I missed from 2005-2018. I really only played the popular titles during those years. I currently don’t really care for most modern games and the ones I like are boomer shooters 😂. I’ll also be making profiles in my bios to match each OS . Example turning off hyper threading for winxp improves game stability. Also the krait has legacy and UEFI boot options . So I’m just waiting to go shopping for a case .

its crazy a 980 works in xp, i tought that when it loaded and the didering on the coloring would be a no go, but with a little bit of tweaking it works well

I got a EVGA 980 ti Hybrid from my old build. I plan on putting together what I had until 2019 (3570k @ 4.6ghz and 980ti) for my xp build.

Im thinking of building a Windows XP/ Windows 7 PC from scratch, i recently purchased a sealed retail copy of both Windows 7 ultimate, and Windows xp professional as i want the full experience of installing and setting them up from the disc. But I haven’t fully decided on the hardware yet. Basically i want a machine that can run every XP game starting with the old GTA trilogy games, and Mafia 2002. As well as games from early 2010’s, like battlefield 3, with 2013 being the cut off. Should i go for a gtx 980 ti, or a 780 ti? What i dont want to have to deal with is driver issues, but have a machine thats capable of running both software.

last Nvidia GPU officially supported is the Titan Black, for the CPU, look for Socket 1150, Haswell, or X79 platforms, including the Ivybridge-E, i7 4960X. With X79, you can do a true 4-way SLI setup. Pair up with a fast SSD such as the Samsung 870 Evo and you've got the best of the best (that is officially supported)!

sounds like the GPU needs a new thermal paste application and a good dusting off, that will lower the temps drastically

You really should specify if your using XP Home or Pro and 32 bit or 64 bit. If your gonna take the time to contribute at least add the essential details in the details box.

x64 edition was only ever in the Professional SKU.
