Because for Korean standards, he's not considered the ideal type. "Flower boys" are popular there. They prefer feminine looking guys (nothing wrong with that) and pale skin. Shownu is masculine and tan. And can come off pretty strong when you first look at him. But majority of international fans love shownu, at least most of my friends do. Lol. It's also like mamamoo, hwasa's not really a popular member in Korea but internationally she's everyone's favorite lol

Shownu somehow reminds me of Kris of EXO's former member, he's really don't talk much but when he's about to open his mouth there will be something hilarious happens. And he's so confident about his face, it's not like he wants to show off but it's so funny to see both of them really have even the small similarity like low voice, calm, tall and funny even though they're the type who don't talk really much.

Same. Shownu overall is the most handsome/attractive/best looking to me out of all of MX. Minhyuk next (especially during Beautiful era, tbh that era had Min OWNING the visual title), and next Kihyun + Hyungwon. There are times though that I think the Min, Kihyun & Hyungwon alternate in visual rankings, for Hyungwon is KILLING this Jealousy/The Connect era with his pink/bleached swept back hair, but then Kihyun takes the floor in random vids and pics all the time. But for the most part, Shownu tops them all for me, like he’s a really handsome + attractive guy.

Well... Korean people consider the most beautiful one as the most good looking, so that's why they chose Hyungwon over Shownu. I love Shownu, he's the manliest in the group and Wonho.. goddamit... he has the sexiest body. But I can't deny Hyungwon's beauty too... I think his visual is stunning, even fans and staff noonas gave him the 'ManChinNam' nickname.

Hyungwon is so shy OH NO HAHA. # low key ships even tho it's gonna wreck my heart. and Gun.GUN IS SUCH A PRECIOUS GEM HE'S SO HILARIOUS. Gun: when shownu disappears, we have to call him "Shownuuu!" and he goes "YEAAAAH" from the bathroom- the way he told the story had me in stitches. and then when he was gushing about hyungwon being so pretty, his facial expression when he realized it got awkward fast and then asking shownu to save him- but shownu made it even worse by saying "it almost made me uncomfortable, how pretty he is" SHOWNU. SHOWNU IS GEM #2. THE LITTLEST THINGS SHOWNU DOES MAKE MY DAY. especially at the end when he just casually raised the flag, voting himself as handsome (the sound effect made it 100x better) minhyuk is adorable. he's just so adorable. :'3 AND WONHO. HE LOOKS GOOD. look at him making fun of shownu at the back. damn i miss seokwon. a lot. fuck, i miss gun so fucking much too. this just went from happy to sad real quick but hey, monsta x and gun and seokwon hwaiting.
