I love the contrast of your face from the first and second shot. the first shot you look slightly apprehensive about what's about to happen as though you are expecting some pain. Your face after the first shot is just pure joy. For the love of big bore my friend, i appreciate you.

Very nice recoil!!! I just subscribed with bell. I was hit by an SUV seven years ago and can't take recoil like that any more due to the nerve damage that I have but, I do enjoy seeing someone else shooting heavy recoiling firearms. Thanks for the demonstration. Now, if one can fire this revolver at 50 meters / yards and put the bullets in an area no bigger than a Eisenhower dollar coin that would be very impressive.

Hans. thanks. these large caliber revolvers are a continuation of Linebagh 500 & 475 long (maximums 1.600") which are capable of such heavier, longer bullets yet the .500 SW mag is a worthy cartridge if loaded with 500 gr plus bullet at 1250-1300 fps which will take down most game with well placed shot. I don't see any advantage cranking up velocity which in reality gains nothing worthy but recoil & high pressures. refer to the black powder era used heavy bullets at mild low speeds which worked superbly. as you can see one good shot is all you've got with such powerful guns so make the best of it. regards Avi

1tufgun Very interesting stuff. I am a budding handgun shooter and have yet to really delve into the magnum calibers. Hot .357 mag loads are as far as I've gone. I can honestly say I will never attempt the .500 Linebagh. I know a very well accomplished handgun master who competes nationally, and even he advised that caliber as "insane". He said it peeled the skin off his trigger finger in 5 shots.

+Hans “Hanzy4200” S. strange that I've never been injured by my monster revolvers however, a shooter's middle finger knuckle will get bruised by the trigger guard if mishandled so special adaptation is essential to be able to manage such powerful monsters. fact is, the 500 Linebaugh & the maximum have taken lots of game in Africa including elephants. it's a matter of personal preference not insanity. The problem with 45-90 is that it only benefits if you load black powder. If you use smokeless then a 45-70 will have the same maximum load as a 45-90 and both will not be able to use the full capacity of the cartridge. The old 45-xy Case where made for black powder and smokeless can't benefit from the larger capacity of a 45-90 , 45-100, 45-110 and the 45-120

I think the appropriate analogy would be kicks like a Zebra. I had to look up the strongest kick in the animal kingdom on google lol. Apparently an adrenaline pumped zebra can kick with 15k newtons of force (over 11k lbs). They can break just about the thickest bones out there and could easily kill a man with a kick in the head or torso.

Took me a while to find this video, you sir are the BOSS. What sort of training does it require to shoot such a big gun without that gun slapping your forehead. And could you really kill a rhino with such a gun?
@nateo200
@nateo200 9 жыл бұрын
kara88bg Notice how he takes the recoil up and raises his hands over his head. Its a good technique for something like this. I've seen a 45-70 revolver in the hands of Jerry Miculek but never something like this. And yes you could kill a rhino with a 50-90 Sharps regardless of barrel length, the penetration on that round is absurd, it could easily get past the flesh, bones, and other obstructions needed to hit such an animals vitals.
@kara88bg
@kara88bg 9 жыл бұрын
nateo200 I know it probably isn't a good comparison since they don't have the same purpose but is such a round like .50.90 sharps or .50 alaskan harder recoiling or harder hitting than 500 magnum? How do they compare?
@1tufgun
@1tufgun 9 жыл бұрын
kara88bg the difference is quite noticeable with the 50-90 sharps or the 50 Alaskan BFR'S since the S&W 500 factory ammo only offers a 440 gr bullet going 1600 fps Average while either BFR'S will launch bullet weights up to 750 gr & will reach the same velocity as the S&W dose but recoil becomes unmanageable & extremely dangerous. as the British gun makers knew all too well that heaviest per caliber at moderate velocities & mild pressures was and still is the one and only method to hunt or stop large dangerous game at close range so, why such penetration distance is absurd ? heck, the more , the better as you can see in Mark Sullivan's videos... regards AVI
@1tufgun
@1tufgun 8 жыл бұрын
+kara88bg.. thank you for the compliments. I started shooting the NRA long range pistol match and got accustom to large caliber wheel guns thereafter I met John linebaugh & purchased his 500 & the 500 maximum revolvers that led me to the larger BFR'S which allowed me to chamber these rifle cartridges in a revolver. it took me 3 long years of excruciating pain while adopting to the harsh recoil which forced me to discover new technics however, each time you pull the trigger its like the first time so you don't really get used to it ever so in essence you better get the first shot correctly since quick second shot may not be possible at close range facing dangerous game.

@bubbleman2002
@bubbleman2002 3 жыл бұрын
I believe it is partially down to 600 nitro express being smokeless powder, and .50-90 sharps being black powder, as you can tell from the "reload and retreat" smoke screen the gun provides you with after every shot ;-)

Bill... the guy dose not do this custom work no more however, a BFR chambered in a sw500 can be used to house this caliber. the barrel is thicker and the cylinder can be reamed to 50-90 but the rims are too large therefore I have trimmed these rimes to fit the cylinder. the front band is machined with the barrel. recoil could be quite harsh and dangerous which can't be controlled with heavy bullets exceeding 1300 fps. i would not recommend this one to anyone period !!!
