Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

Day 2 of asking for you to build a large plane with a runaway on top, and take off and land on it with a smaller plane, but you're not allowed to use anchor pins or a tractor beam.

You can really do that with the complexity limit and even if they used a mod it would be laggy and blocks have no friction so you would not be able to land sadly

Its when the rotors start glowing that it becomes scary. Staying under the islands when the enemy has the high ground is a viable strat, but only when you can maintain a line of sight. Also, quite surprising that Yzuke went for function over form.

Someone pointed out that Yzuke actually built the heli based upon the "RAH-66 Comanche" (which I knew but would never be able to remember the name), and I agree a lot, since some key differences that tell apart the comanche from another heli, but here the radar-based caracteristics serve as protection from shots.

@ScrapMan Idea for a challenge: Spawn barrels randomly on the map with a mod (i remember you were using one in the past) and build a cargo helicopter to pick them up, set a time limit and who picks up more barrels wins, maybe you can also shoot each other to make things more funny. OR you can do it at turns, where one of you is picking them up and the other one will try to stop you with a fighter plane or something like that. I am really enjoying the collabs with Yzuei, keep it up, love ya ^^

As a former helicopter mechanic I throughly enjoyed this. If you guys had more practice and knew how to use the real maneuvers of helicopters then I think the helicopter battles could be epic.

the problem for scrapman's was he sways from side to side and used the props to shield the attacks thats why he took so much dmg

Funny enough, this "padding" that Yzuei has put on his rotors, comes from the RAH-66 Comanche, that his helicopter is clearly based upon. So are the enclosed tail rotor and retractable weapons bays. (I also have to correct myself on my previous statement. The Comanche had optional stub wings, for carrying additional missiles)

If I remember correctly other attack helicopters with the large bulky piece above their rotars is a radar and targeting system

@@Your_Lord_Grumble Couldn't find anything in this regard for Comanche tho. This could be as well a mean to hide away sharp edges, to reduce its radar cross-section. But I know what you're talking about. AH-64 Apache has a spherical radar in that place, while the OH-56 Kiowa has a FLIR ball.

It's the Bell 360, it has the exact same nose minigun, tiny wings, closed tail rotor and retractable weapon bays. Its super close to the Comanche though! Scrapman's is looking super similar to the H-34 Choctaw if it was small and an attack helicopter. I hope in seeing this you edit your comment completely as to avoid misinforming people! The padding is the Radar and the 360 has it too :)

These are SUPER entertaining to watch, I have a video idea though. The idea is a 2v2 helicopter battle, where you build half of a chinook (a pilot part), and your teammate builds the other half of the chinook (a turret part on the back) and you have to merge them together and fight the other team. You'd be allowed to communicate for the width and height but other than that you couldn't communicate. Meaning when the chinook comes together it could have totally and different functioning sides and I think that would be super cool.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I think it would have been better for Scrapman to use his repairs earlier in order to try and maintain as much altitude as possible.

Great stuff, these helis are on another level now! Gotta get kAN and Kosmo in on it for an epic free-for-all or some other shenanigans (maybe allow rockets but you only get 4 shots or something?) Also it occurred to me that making some of your guns be able to swivel up might help mitigate the disadvantage when lower than the opponent....

It looks like repairing first was an advantage because fresh heli could outclimb the damaged one without loosing too much, and then when the second one repairs, it's already below.

Idea 1: Transformer fights. You each need a vehicle that transforms to move on land, water and in the air. Race them in a triathlon of different terrains. Win by crossing the finish line or through elimination. Limited number of repairs. Idea 2: Just boat to boat combat. Make some massive dreadnoughts that slug it out. Idea 3: Evolution fighters. Dog fight over 5 rounds, with each round the loser gets to evolve Idea 4: Boats vs. Fighters. Planes are capped at speed and altitude and have no weapons. Boats try to blast them and whoever gets the furthest on the course wins. Probably need to give the boats a catch up mechanic like extra rockets or something in case they run aground and have to respawn.

The difficult part is not having any forward thrust. Since you can't have any thrust your only speed comes from the rotor which is also the most critical part

Here's an idea. Try to make a plane, car, and a boat all with the same blocks. If you have a part on your car like a wheel you should see a wheel on your plane or boat and test them using the transform feature.

Scrap definitely messed it up for himself by constantly tipping the helicopter everytime he got shot so it made the blades take damage way too much. Honestly surprised he didn't try to avoid doing so

You should do a remote control type of Battle or Maybe a race. three vehicles, three matches, one vehicle for each terrain. 1st gets 3pts 2nd gets 2pts and so on.
