1v1 Metronome Tournament - Pokémon Battle Revolution - Battles 103-108 (Round 1A)

Explosion, Self-Destruct, recoil moves... So many battles have to be redone. Oh, and Eevee is here! And Cyndaquil! That and more feature in today's episode of the 1v1 Metronome Tournament.

Swalot used Perish Song on the third round, and it would been resetted for the third time had it not been for Blaziken's Roar of Time crit (and this is on the top of +1 stat boosts from Silver Wind on the first turn.)

This is one of the disadvantages of Metronome. It already happened to me, when I played Soul Silver/Heart Gold and I didn't want to take my Togepi's Metronome, because he had used Dialga's Roar of Time during a battle, but Explosion and Self Destruction came to give me a headache.

That Blaziken kept causing ties only to make Swalot fall thrice in a brutal way.

Even though I like the Metronome attack, it has its good and bad points. The good points are that as the Pokémon can literally use any attack, regardless of its type, some legendary Pokémon signature attacks are used, such as Palkia's Spacial Rend and Dialga's Roar of Time. The bad points are that Pokémon can use very boring attacks, such as Self Destruction, Explosion, Perish Song, Destiny Bond, among many others. Still, I like this attack.

It's a fun move for sure. You're right about it not being competitively viable due to its random nature.

If I had a nickel for every time I watched a Blaziken force a draw in a Metronome Battle, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. All joking aside, I feel like Hippowdon has the potential to go really far in this tournament. Not just because of its type or bulk, but also permanent Sandstorm adding more chip damage, so the opponent's still getting hurt even if Hippowdon's missing on its Metronomes. Tyranitar and the Abomasnow line fall into this category as well, but they both have much worse typings, so there's always going to be the possibility of a 4x effective hit getting selected and instantly sending them packing.

Poison Point and Flame Body are also useful abilities, but Sand Stream and Snow warning being active from the start can help even more.

Zangoose is in the 2nd bracket, so the 2nd half of the Tournament. Zangoose will fight in battle 106 in the 2nd bracket, and face Qwilfish in the first Round.
