Theo’s monologue always leaves me breathless. So raw and powerful. Kate Siegel is so incredibly talented

THE best jumpscare I’ve ever seen, because it wasn’t cheap, but it actually had meaning and a point to the story. Also, all the previous conversations in the car earlier in the episode all lulled us into a false sense of security. So brilliant. And then Theo’s unbelievable monologue (supposedly she (Kate) nailed that in one take), which she should have won some awards for. Heartbreaking. Many people have commented that Theo’s descriptions of this numb, empty feeling really tell the truth of what severe depression feels like. 😢 2 episodes to go, all questions will be answered. Can’t wait to see your reactions! Cheers!

its not my favorite. Truthfully barely even flinched because there was no time to process it so i just kind of sat ther like "ok?". It had no build up or tension.. To me the jump scare in episode 5 when Nellie is at the vending machine is a much better one. During that scene you feel uneasy. You feel tense. So then when they hit you with the jump scare your actually on edge.

Well, you survived one of the best jump scares ever! The way that scene was scripted, Theo and Shirley had significantly more dialogue in the car. The director, Mike Flanagan told Victoria Pedretti (Nell) to jump out of the back whenever she felt comfortable. The reactions were genuine as both Elizabeth Reaser and Kate Siegel were not expecting that moment at all. Looking forward to the final two. Loving your comments and theories.

Loved the reaction :) It never occured to me that it could've been Nell banging on the walls and knocking on the door, i always only thought about how Shirl and Theo experienced the same thing as children. Interesting theory (that's why it never gets boring to discover someone new to react to this show and i really like that you take your time to discuss your thoughts) and it makes sense. I still doubt it was Nell, because it started before Theo arrived, but who knows? 23:29: Agreed. The way they reveal more and more stuff in this show is SO good! Such an intelligent writing.
@ariachanson013 ай бұрын
yeah, I think I got it wrong, it was probably them experiencing the same thing they did in hill house, it just didn't occur to me in that moment so I thought it was Nell😅

@@ariachanson01 You may be right though. Nell has been trying to get them to stop fighting and come together since early on in the show.

Another great video with analysis! Thank you. I keep saying similar, but I want to put something here because it helps the algorithm! Next time you watch the series, I bet you'll notice the handlebar-mustache guy in a few scenes earlier in the season!

That was mould on Shirley's model "Forever House," just like the real "Forever House," aka Hill House. Another evidence of the supernatural at play. Clearly, Steven blames his father for his mother's death AND for breaking-up the family because they had to go to Aunt Janet's. In truth, Aunt Janet, Olivia's sister, is an interfering busybody. Steven refuses to acknowledge Hugh did the right thing in prioritising removing the children from the source of danger and then returning for Olivia. The safety of children always comes first. There's also a certain irony and contrast in that between Hugh and Olivia. Again, various motifs arise again in this episode. The colour "red" motif; the "fixing" motif; the "come home" motif. Ghost Olivia is wearing red, always be-on-the-lookout for red things; Theo was staying at Shirley's to try to "fix" Shirley and, of course, now we see everyone's "coming home" to Hill House. Shirley Jackson's novel "Hill House" obviously influenced Stephen King's "The Shining." Hugh says the Crains are like "an unfinished meal" to the House. In other words, the House wants to absorb them. I suspect this is because, like Jack and Danny Torrance in "The Shining," the Crains are all possessed of psychic powers/energy. They're an especially tasty meal for the House. Theo also shows "bargaining" in this episode. The reactor is quite right to note the parallel between the pounding at Shirley's and the identical event both Shirley and Theo experienced as youngsters. It's the boy in the wheelchair and clearly supernatural. Both Hugh and Theo saw ghost Olivia at Shirley's. Again, the supernatural element is real. At the fertility clinic, when Steven saw Olivia's ghost, the truth came out. Steven was going to have to tell Leigh about the vasectomy, and that led to their separation. Nell has always wanted to bring the family back together, and, unlike the others, she's remained close to her father. She doesn't like it when they argue/fight. That's why the coffin dropped and why she appeared in the car with Shirley and Theo. It's very significant that Steven finds Poppy's dressing table, and where he finds it, and presents it to his mother. Poppy was William's wife. The name Poppy is significant. The poppy flower is symbolic of both sleeping and death. I think, even from ancient times people left poppies at gravesites. Recall the poem “In Flanders Fields”. In this poem, red poppies grew over the graves of the fallen soldiers.

It really was a major jumpscare in the car, and I was watching the episode in broad daylight! 😬😮💨 You are brave watching this at night, and it was raining too? 😮😱

@@ariachanson01I don't get it. You are one of if not the best people reacting to these movies and your channel grows slowly. You do brilliant analysis of the movies you react to and you make the movies more enjoyable, especially the comedies. I absolutely love your sense of humor. Your compassion for tragedies in movies based on real events is touching and honest. Last but not least you are genuinely beautiful. With all these attributes your channel should be at 500K minimum. Keep reviewing the films and providing so much entertainment. All your fans love you. ❤😊

Since the story was completely different there was still a lot of suspense and the dialogues used in the show, to read them in the book, where they're orginally from, in a different context, felt great!!

@@ariachanson01 I'm glad it lived up to its history as a classic ghost story. Be sure to see the 1963 film when you have a chance. It's a great adaptation of the novel and the black and white cinematography is eerily reminiscent of the film noir genre using light and deep shadow to create a psychological atmosphere of tension and suspense. It works on your imagination, especially since they didn't have computer graphics to lean on (or overuse like today) back then.
