1ZZFE Oil Consumption Fix How-To 8th Gen VVTi Corolla +similar

1ZZ... engines are notorious for oil consumption caused by piston rings frozen with carbon deposits. The oil loss is worsens with time. This video documents the repair I performed on my 8th generation VVTi Corolla. Similar vehicles with a zz engines can also be repaired. This repair was performed using the instructions provided by Bennie Aust at Toyota Nation: www.toyotanatio... A list of parts, tools, and assistance from Bennie himself can be found there. So far, Bennie's instructions have been used with these vehicle models: '98 Prizm, '99 Prizm, '00 Prizm, '00 Corolla, '01 Corolla, '01 Celica GT, '00 Celica GT-S 2ZZ-GE, '01 Saturn SL2.
The video includes additional gasket changes, the replacement of a broken electrical connector, and instruction for how to reuse copper crush washers.

UPDATE: Just want to let everyone know that after 2,000 miles the car is running great! There is zero oil consumption, and with the new injectors and seals the car feels like it is brand new.
I had a few people ask me where I got the service manual. I got it from the TIS (Technical Information System) website, the official Toyota technical support site at techinfo.toyota... -- they offer 2 day access passes for $15. I just printed the pages I needed for the repair to a PDF so I could use my iPad under the car.
