Yeah looks like copper paste or crap in those sealant cans. Yeah I just did everything on my A4 including the oil flow control valve and solenoid on the intake.. and all timing components. I do recommend to replace that oil control valve especially if the plunger is even a tad sticky, which mine was, I wasn’t experiencing low oil pressure it was just that exact reason the button felt like it wasn’t returning to flush with the body. Great TSB on that part, it’s not expensive so if you pull the bridge make sure it feels right.. that’s a simple easy fix

I had that oil control valve fail on my Gen3 1.8tfsi engine, button popped out like that on the inlet vvt plunger, and the sleeve inside was cracked. I had timing correlation codes in mine and poor idle etc, so i did a teardown and changed the complete timing chain and all associated parts at the price of £1200( vvt bridge, valves and actuator solenoids balance shaft chain....everything!), im a mechanic so no labour thank goodness. I do oil and filter changes every 6-8000 miles to help keep it healthy.

in my case the problem (very persistent oil pressure warning on idle sometimes with miss fire on all cylinders but not always) was dirty vvt adjuster/magnet! Litle bit of parts cleaner sprayed in each hole and problem is solved!!!

When the red oil pressure light came on, on mine, the "shut off engine" one, I first measured the pressure at idle, 2250rpm, 3750rpm, the idle was lower than spec. I then swapped the top oil pressure sensor, didn't work, so then we just did the oil pump which fixed it.

@scrwbl82 жыл бұрын
@@tevionsaunders2506 Yes, that seemed to have been the problem. Did you check/replace the PCV for a new model with the white plastic parts on it? I recently swapped my vacuum pump and high pressure fuelpump, inlet camshaft magnet valve, camshaft senor, as I found a deal from a company that does rebuilds and my car now has 234k km's on the clock. Seems to have reduced my gas consumption for some reason. As Naptown Tuner showed in previous videos, maybe check the camshaf inlet valve if it's still ok and if the mesh filter isn't stuck in the block's oil inlet at the front of the engine which could starve the engine from oil. The copper coloured crud might be from the pump or from some engine restore oil additive in my case .... :(

I have just started getting the low oil pressure light, but it only happens at idle after long drives (45min+) so hot engine, goes straight off as soon as engine is revved. Will also throw epc light if going over 4000rpm at the same time the pressure issue starts. Weird. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

@djpquickplays12442 ай бұрын
@filipovicnemanja6376 bro, apparently air leaks and oil pump are common causes. Oil switches also rarely causes it. If you have oil leak it will also cause air leak on these engines so check and fix that first. If you have no oil leak but your car is using more than 1 litre oil per 1000 miles, it is probably worn piston rings. I'm driving mine fine atm for 3000 miles like this... using only 1 litre per 3000 miles at the moment, let's see how long it lasts 😂🤞

Impossible to solve oil consumption issues because GDI are engineered and designed that way. Fuel is injected at the compression stroke while the piston going up dissolving oil in the piston ring.

Wow Never understand why people buy foreign cars. I use B&G oil treatment for my cars. So far never had an engine related problem in my last 2 cars. Just to think, they are both GM built cars If a car lasts you 10 years, you have gotten your money's worth. Basically I have just paid for brakes and rotors and one wheel bearing. Can't beat that
