2.1 Adam Smasher in 1 minute (DFTR Very Hard)

One of the faster Smasher fights after 2.1 is using stealth and netrunning. When fighting him guns blazing the Don't Fear the Reaper version can be around 4-5 minutes with a high damage build on Very Hard and much faster on lower difficulties. The DFTR Smasher also has the ability to one shot V on Very Hard. However, when using a netrunner combined with stealth takedowns the fight can be 1 minute or less. Stealth takedowns were not working on Smasher after 2.0 until the 2.1 update.
Although you don't need a netrunner to do stealth takedowns, it's slightly faster with memory wipe and an on demand blind from overclock with the Tetratronic Rippler.

Jeez man thanks for his video, was struggling with him on very hard a lot and couldn't beat him. Turns out that with cloak and some stealth he is a joke - took him town in 2 hits plus some slaps with katana :).

Alternative that helped me defeat him: - Start w/ Memory Wipe, follow him and get the first takedown - 50% hp - Overclock and upload as many Detonate Grenade hacks as possible - 10% hp - If he's alive, chuck all your grenades into the center of the room where he goes to start blowing the room up - If you're still struggling like me, hack on the turrets around the room and switch them to Friendly Mode (can be done while he's memory wiped/de-aggro'd)

I'm interested about using a stealth way throughout the rest of "Fear the Ripper". assume that's not really possible, unlike the other endings

DFTR forces combat upon entering the building, t5 mem wipe resets the whole squad, reinforcements that spawn in at certain intervals will re-aggro. So a pure "never get seen" run is not possible. But you can enter stealth inbetween and skip a few sections.

How did you stealth takedown him? I thought they took it out because everytime I would try, the button wouldn't pop up

I believe they removed stealth take downs in 2.0 but I noticed it when testing his new mechanics after the 2.1 update.

It's probably not intentional to have the takedown back in the game, considering how buggy it looks now.

I wonder why they didn't have Smasher do the Sasquatch thing and constantly look behind and around him when he loses track of you? Seems like a good way to make stealthing bosses more difficult without removing the option altogether. This just seems a little too easy... though to be fair, skilled play can make anything look easy. 😉
