This video is part of the second section in the edX course from "Brain to Symptom - introduction to neuroscientific psychiatry" by psychiatrist and course director Christoffer Rahm, and Karolina Sörman, Head of unit Continuing Education Center for Psychiatry Research, researcher in clinical neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet and assistant course director.
This section will introduce you to the fascinating topics of cognition and emotion. These are two fundamental building blocks to understand normal brain functioning relevant to psychiatry. We will introduce you to the neuroscience of these functional brain domains and give examples of their impact on everyday functioning. This section also includes a module on disorders with impaired cognition and a module on disorders involving reduced emotional functioning. Following these theoretical parts, you will get to meet two virtual patients that manifest several of the characteristic symptoms of these types of disorders
