Rarity though alone doesn't drive up the price. "Demand" and "how many want the title" is the key as well as condition which can infinitely increase the price with each superlative grade especially with vinyl! There tends to be overgrading on common and super rare records with sellers knowing that buyers rarely return either due economics with the former and rarity with the later. Luckily I want cds and it seems over the past few years, collectors are all too willing to part with those shiny discs. The rare cds have become available for a seller's price and the moderately hard to find have become cheap. Vinyl went through a similar phase in the 90's. I stick with certain sellers and I do pay over the odds. Recently one major seller mistreated me on a moderately priced product and I let it slide because that seller seems to always get a fresh supply of rarities I can hardly find elsewhere. Amazon made their mistake by gating and limiting sellers; and I will not make that mistake! Moreover, nobody and I mean nobody ever knows my wants list. Deep pockets and weak knees are two tools of the trade of record collecting. These are a lessons the Japanese cd collectors taught me.

I agree with you when it comes to volume. I have ordered 20 records and settled on 6 just because from EU to ZA it makes more sense. I normally negotiate with seller to see the most records i can get with one deal transport included...

Thanks for posting these two vids! I agree with most everything you said on this subject and there is definitely a learning curve to buying used records from Ebay and Discogs. Three of the biggest keys I have found when dealing with sellers. First make sure you have good communication with the seller. Secondly ask lots of questions and get them to send pictures so you know the exact visual quality and I have even requested sound samples of questionable areas. Third don't be afraid to request exactly how you want your albums shipped and be willing to pay a bit extra if need be to make sure receive undamaged items. As for your comments on Re-issues, yes as a rule original pressings can be better but I have gotten some re-issues that are better than the originals. Like the Kiss re-issues sound outstanding and surely better than the 70's original issues. The Jimmy Page re-issues of the Zep catalog, depending on what original pressing you have can also sound as good or better, and of course these statements are all just my opinion ;) -Ron

Hello, I have a question. If I purchase a record on discogs from a different country for example “Venezuela” will it go through customs or go straight to my home?

You will most probably have to pay some taxes on it so in other words yes through customs

Eco House Records Tough getting in the game at this point. Maybe specialize in a niche genre? I only cover 80s-90s hip hop so those specific records are easier to find unwanted.

Nathan Flowers Lower fees on Discogs. Bigger audience on eBay. If you need to sell quick go eBay. My opinion.

Discogs by far. Ebay is gping dowb for vinyl. Fees are sky high. They get a cut off the price of shipping too. Ebay is the past, discogs is the future.
